The Homestead Highlanders played host to Milwaukee Lutheran on senior night Friday but freshman guard Jack Popp stole the show as his activity and efficiency helped break the game wide open in the second quarter and the Highlanders rolled to an 80-57 victory with a dominant and balanced attack.

Jake Laihinen – 6-3 – 2013 – SG – Homestead H.S. – Mequon (WI)
The outside shooting specialist let the game come to him but when the opportunity presented itself he stepped up and delivered a number of huge baskets during the midst of runs that helped the Highlanders break the game open.  Knocked down 3 trey balls on his way to 13 points with a solid effort on Friday.

Jack Popp – 6-3 – 2016 – SG – Homestead H.S. – Mequon (WI)
One of the top freshmen in the state did not disappoint as Popp delivered and efficient and dominant performance on Friday night.  Whether it was on the defensive end collecting a loose ball, grabbing rebounds on both ends, leading the break in transition and delivering assists, attacking the rim off the bounce, or ripping the nets with his jumper, Popp did it all with a strong 15 point performance that helped fuel the victory for Homestead.

Luke Worthington – 6-8 – 2013 – F/C – Homestead H.S. – Mequon (WI)
Was solid and dominant on the blocks all night long as he used both hands to finish with consistency, he attacked the glass, and he even powered in a dunk in noticeable fashion.  Jump started Homestead in the third quarter with a number of early baskets and scored 11 of his game high 19 points in the second half while delivering a strong and dominant performance on senior night.

Chris Holt – 6-1 – 2013 – PG – Milwaukee Lutheran H.S. – Milwaukee (WI)
Was solid at times while showcasing some nice quickness and an ability to get to the rim off the bounce and finish around the basket.  Scored a team high 13 points in the losing effort for Lutheran.

Jevon Smith – 6-3 – 2015 – SG – Milwaukee Lutheran H.S. – Milwaukee (WI)
An emerging sophomore with range and upside, Smith delivered 8 of his 11 points in the third quarter and during the stretch he showed an ability to score off the bounce and finish in transition in impressive fashion.

Jerrod Walton – 6-6 – 2014 – SF – Homestead H.S. – Mequon (WI)
The long lean wing was impressive in flashes on Friday as he showed a little bit of everything by showcasing range beyond the arc, a mid-range stroke, nice defensive instincts with a couple steals, and decent vision and passing ability.  Finished with 9 points and contributed on both ends of the court with a solid effort on Friday night.
