NY2LASPORTS.COM - LACHANCE PACES CENTRAL PAST WISCO

It is nearing the end of the regular season, tournament seeds have been established and all sorts of coaches were out scouting two of the better teams in the area in their respected divisions to see a quality game and prepare for the playoffs. The Wisconsin Lutheran Vikings traveled to Brookfield Central Saturday night to take on the Lancers. Brookfield Central was in control from start to finish, however the Vikings, in large part to tremendous work offensively from senior guard Deiondre Cunningham, forced the Lancers to work until the final seconds to solidify the non-conference victory. A hot third quarter by Riley LaChance and a steady game from Elijah Goodman, both juniors, helped pace Central to the win, 59-55.
Deiondre Cunningham – 2013 – SG – Wisconsin Lutheran H.S.
6-0 – Milwaukee, WI
Cunningham was very effective and efficient offensively throughout the game. He finished plays very well in transition, knocked in a deeper two-point shot as well as a couple contested mid-range jumpers. His game-high 18 points were all timely and kept Wisconsin Lutheran in the game. When his perimeter game becomes more consistent he will be a very challenging player to defend, as his quickness and athleticism make him difficult to guard anyways.
Riley LaChance – 2014 – G – Brookfield Central H.S.
6-3 – Brookfield, WI
LaChance was quiet during the first half, but like he has all year, he wore the defense down and then turned on the jets. The 6-3 guard knocked down four big shots in the 3rd quarter, including one from three-point range, scoring 11 in the period. LaChance finished with 17 points and had a handful of assists to accompany them.
Elijah Goodman – 2014 – F – Brookfield Central H.S.
6-4 – Butler, WI
Goodman does not stop moving forward. He is a physical player that is hard to push away from the basket, which again allowed him to grab 8 offensive rebounds against the Vikings. Five of those offensive boards he personally converted to baskets. The junior forward has good hands catching difficult passes and getting key tips at the rim. His baby hook has improved greatly, which helped him to finish with 15 points.
Keith Franklin – 2014 – PG – Wisconsin Lutheran H.S.
5-10 – Milwaukee, WI
Franklin has a solid feel to his game. He moves swiftly with few wasted movements, takes care of the ball and showed his ability to score the basketball some tonight. Franklin sank 3 three-point baskets and added a nice baseline drive for a layup against contact, capitalizing on a three-point play. He concluded the contest with a nice 12 points. Consistency will be valuable for Franklin as he develops.
Cedric Polk – 2014 – G – Wisconsin Lutheran H.S.
5-11 – Milwaukee, WI
Polk was quiet at times during the game, but knocked down a couple big three-point shots in the second half. Away from the ball, Polk did a good job moving and finding open spots against the zone, made sound decisions and passes to help limit Brookfield Central’s ability to stretch the game out from turnovers. Polk finished with 8 points for the game.
