The 2017 annual NY2LA Sports Summer Jam returns to Mequon Homestead High School this week. The most highly anticipated event in the second week of the July evaluation period, the Summer Jam is once again loaded with many of the nation’s top travel programs. Action kicks of Wednesday with plenty of high level action. Here’s a look at the top games to watch on opening night…

17U Games to Watch
George Hill Rising Stars vs. Mac Irvin Fire Elite – 6:05 PM – Court 2 – Homestead HS

One of the hottest, must-see prospects in the Midwest takes the floor on opening night. Guaranteed to put on a show, 2018 point guard Xavier Pinson has had an electrifying travel season as he continues to add offers. Back on the market, Kevin Easley is an intriguing small forward for George Hill and will be joined by a number of Division 1 caliber guards. 

Quad City Elite vs. MBA Hoops Elite 2019 – 6:05 PM – Court 3 – Homestead HS
The Youngsters from Mississippi will give it a go in the 17U Division. One of the top young bigs in the country, Emmanuel Okpomo, is a must-know center in the 2020 class. He’ll pair with fellow 2020 power forward Jaemyn Brakefield, forming a dominant frontcourt. After a nice spring, Quad City Elite will turn to its rising shooting guard Corvon Seales, who has a chance to play his way into a Division 1 scholarship this week. 

Mac Irvin Fire EYBL vs. MBA Hoops Elite – 7:10 PM – Court 2 – Homestead HS
One of the best guards in the country, Ayo Dosunmu, takes the floor for Mac Irvin Fire. The top 50 prospect was one of the most productive players in the EYBL this season. Also keep an eye on rising big man Tamell Pearson, who’s picked up some high major offers this summer. 2018 PG Daquan Smith guides the MBA Hoops Elite attack and leading a big, athletic front court, Kenneth Nwuba will look to give MBA Hoops a big win on opening night.

CIA Bounce EYBL vs. Team Loaded VA – 7:10 PM – Court 2 – Homestead HS
This is a loaded matchup between two of the top AAU programs in the country. CIA Bounce features a pair of top 100 players in Ignas Brazdeikis and Simi Shittu, who both can put up huge numbers. They’ll be met by one of the nation’s top big men, David McCormack, who many believe is the top center in the 2018 class. Jairus Hamilton, Armando Bacot (2019), Jaelin Llewellyn, and Oscar Tshiebwe (2019) are also top 100 caliber talents. 

Ramey-Jets United vs. Team Blaze Select – 8:15 PM – Court 2 – Homestead HS 
Team Blaze has lived up to their name in July. After winning the NY2LA championships, Team Blaze finished second in the open division. Ohio State commit Musa Jallow leads one of the top independent programs in the country. Ramey-Jets features Ohio State commit Torrence Watson and Louisville commit Courtney Ramey, forming one of the best backcourts in the nation. 

AUSA Hoops Platinum vs. Playground Elite – 8:15 PM – Court 3 – Homestead HS
Starting to click, Playground Elite made a nice run at the Peach Invitational. Wisconsin commit Tyler Herro, Carlos Curtis, and Keshawn Justice make up a strong backcourt. This will be a good test for rising point guard Flynn Cameron, who’s been picking up high major interest, and had a breakout week in Milwaukee at the NY2LA Next Level Invitational for AUSA Hoops. 

REACH Legends vs. Team Harris – 9:20 PM – Court 2 – Homestead HS 
One of the top point guards in the Midwest, Eric Hunter leads a strong Team Harris squad, who performed very well at the Swish N’ Dish in the spring. In what should be an outstanding matchup with Reach Legends guard Rashad Williams, who has been going off in July, this is one of the more underrated games of opening night. D’Juan Seal and Quinn Blair have also had strong starts to the summer evaluation period for Reach. 

16U Games to Watch
Ramey-Jets United vs. Ray Allen Select – 7:10 PM – Court 1 – Homestead HS 

Ramey-Jets has a number of quality sleepers in the St. Louis area, including Malek Davis. All Ray Allen Select does is win. One of the most consistent travel programs out there, RAS is coming off a championship in the NY2LA Next Level Invitational. Their 1-2 punch of Cole Nau and Marcus Domask continue to fly under the radar, but have been producing at a high level.

Illinois Irish vs. Playground Elite – 7:10 PM – Court 4 – Homestead HS
This one will have terrific guard play and athletic and athletic wings and forwards. Donavan Moore, Jihrel Brock, and Karl Wright often put on a show for the Irish. Xzavier Jones, Larry Canady, and Trequan Carrington do the same thing for Playground Elite. Expect college coaches to be all over this matchup with no shortage of Division 1 talent on the floor. 

Quad City Elite vs. REACH Legends – 8:15 PM – Court 1 – Homestead HS
This matchup came right down to the buzzer last week with REACH winning on a last second shot. High-flying shooting guard Harlond Beverly is expected to return for REACH and he’ll match up with one of the best point guards in the Midwest, D.J. Carton. Two of the top 16U teams in the NY2LA Association, Quad City Elite and REACH Legends should be another dog fight on opening night.
