2009 Prospect Update - 6'11" F/C DaShonte Riley - Michigan

Another
big time Class of 2009 prospect is putting it down in Michigan as 6'11" DaShonte
Riley of Detroit Country Day is one of the hottest frontcourt prospects in the
country right now! The long, athletic Riley attends the legendary Detroit
Country Day, yes the same one that produced Chris Webber (Michigan) and Shane
Battier (Duke)! Make no mistake, Riley is out to make a name for himself
as he has a host of high major programs from virtually every conference in the
country positioning themselves to land him!
At 6'11" the long, athletic Riley is at times completely dominating on the defensive end as he has excellent timing and solid instincts to alter and block shots and also control the defensive boards. Expect that to continue to improve as the big fella has an 87" wingspan to go along with that big frame. He has the athleticism, instincts, and timing to become an absolutely dominant interior defender at the next level. However, the 215 LB Riley is not just a defensive terror as he also possesses a solid mid range game that continues to develop with each passing week.
Riley blasted on the scene this spring with The Family Grassroots program and that heat generated by his performances with them has continued into the fall as a number of programs showed up this past fall for open gyms at Detroit Country Day. The 6'11" Riley is still raw so he has a tremendous upside and by all accounts he's only scratched the surface of his enormous potential. Expect Mr. Riley to become one of the most talked about prospects in the country by the end of next summer and he'll be collecting a ton of high major offers in the process!
