NY PHENOM STEPHENSON SITS ATOP NEW 09' TOP 50 RANKINGS

By Antonio Curro - NY2LA Sports

January 11, 2008

5'10" PG Korie Lucious of Milwaukee Pius XI the current #1 player in the 2008 class for the state of Wisconsin has a big test coming up this weekend as his Milwaukee Pius XI Popes squad will travel east to take on Lincoln out of Brooklyn, NY and the current #1 player in the NY2LA Sports Top 50 player rankings for the Class of 2009, 6'5" G/F Lance Stephenson.  The multi-skilled Stephenson is being recruited by virtually every high major program in the country and stands to be one of the premiere prospects in the Class of 2009 nationally.

Right behind Stephenson is the explosive 6'0" G Kenny Boynton of American Heritage (FL).  The lightning quick Boynton is one of the top scoring threats in the country.  When he gets it going you can forget it because it's going to be a long night.

The Midwest represented as well with the likes of 6'7" SF Jamil Wilson of Racine Horlick (WI); 5'10" PG Johnny Lacy of Milwaukee Bay View (WI); 6'7" Royce White of DeLaSalle (MN); 6'9" F Stephen Van Treese of Lawrence North (IN); 6'3" G D.J. Richardson of Peoria Central (IL); 6'6" F Michael Haynes of Washington (IL); 6'3" G Diamond Taylor of St. Joseph's (IL); 6'6" SF Rodney Williams Jr. of Robbinsdale Cooper (MN); and 6'4" G Trent Lockett of Hopkins (MN) also making the list.

Others of note who also grabbed spots on the list included 6'2" PG Mfon Udofia of Millers Grove (GA); 6'6" SG Maurice Creek of South Kent (CT); 6'7" F Reeves Nelson of Modesto Christian who recently committed to UCLA; 6'11" F/C DaShonte Riley of Detroit Country Day (MI) and 6'8" PF DeShawn Painter of Booker T. Washington (VA) who's one of the rawest most explosive athletes and physical specimen's in the 09 class!
