DAVIS AND WILLIAMS SET FOR JAN 5TH SHOWDOWN!

By Antonio Curro - NY2LA Sports

December 29, 2007

Two of the top SF prospects in the country are set to go head to head January 5, 2008 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin when 6'4" Flavien Davis and Wisconsin Lutheran High School host 6'6" Rodney Williams and Robbinsdale Cooper Sr. High School in the 2008 NY2LA Sports Extravaganza at Wisconsin Lutheran College located at 8800 W. Bluemound Road in Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53226.

RodneyWilliams07Williams exploded this past spring/summer as he played for the Howard Pulley Panthers Grassroots 17U Black team.  The long, athletic, slashing young prospect is one of the top Class of 2009 prospects in the country and is currently regarded as one of the Top 50 prospects in the Class of 2009 and is listed as high as a Top 25 prospect on some boards.  Williams absolutely explodes off the ground and he displayed that time and time again this past spring/summer on his way to gathering high major interest from the likes of Minnesota, Iowa State, Iowa, Purdue, Kansas, Miami (FL), Marquette, Seton Hall, Notre Dame, and Boston College.

Williams was one of the top 20 players at the Nike Hoop Jamboree camp this past June and he also participated in the Nike LeBron James Skill Academy this past July.  He was also chosen as an alternate for the Nike Global Challenge, which was held this past summer in Portland, Oregon.

Williams is currently regarded as the #1 prospect in the state of Minnesota for the 2009 class by NY2LA Sports and he's led his Robbinsdale Cooper team to a 5-1 start while averaging 21 points per game 4.4 rebounds per game 2.2 assists per game and 2.8 blocks per game.  Cooper also features 6'3" Jr. Joe Bright who's also regarded as another top prospect in the state of Minnesota.  Bright is averaging 20.3 points per game and 6 rebounds per game for Cooper this season.

As for Wisconsin Lutheran, they will look to counter with 6'5" SF Flavien Davis, the #26 ranked player in the Class of 2010 according to the HoopScoop and is currently regarded by some as the #1 ranked player in the Class of 2010 for the state of Wisconsin.  The long and highly athletic Davis already has offers on the table from Marquette and Baylor with interest coming from the likes of Pittsburgh, Arizona, Georgetown, Kentucky, and Texas amongst others in recent months.

Flavien will be fresh off a 30 point performance in the WBBY Shootout against top ranked Wauwatosa East.  Wisconsin Lutheran stands at 6-2 on the year.

The game is set to tip off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday January 5, 2008 with a JV tilt featuring Wisconsin Lutheran and Wauwatosa East set to kick things off at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets for the game will be available at the door.  Cost will be $5.

Passes for press/media and college coaches will be available.  Please submit your request at least 1 week prior to the event via e-mail.
