Yesterday
it was Ahmad Starks, today we take a look at
6'0"
PG Reggie Smith of Thornton High School in Chicago, Illinois.
Not only is Smith one of the top Class of 2010 PG prospects in Illinois, he's
one of the top ones in the entire country!
The biggest asset of this highly regarded young backcourt prospect is his high major elite explosive athleticism and leaping ability. Not only does Smith handle the ball exceptionally well, he absolutely explodes off the ground and is a highlight reel waiting to happen in the open floor.
The young PG has the ability to break his defender down off the dribble, penetrate and create, and his outside stroke is continuing to improve week after week. Smith has all the makings of a big time talent as long as he continues to work hard on both his physical tools and his skill set over the next couple of years.
Pound for pound Smith is up there with the top athletes in the country in the Class of 2010. However, his skill set is still raw and that's important because he still has tons of room to grow and develop in the coming years. If he continues to work hard and can eventually match his skill set and consistency with his extraordinary athleticism, Smith is going to have every college coach in the country lining up to secure his services.
Smith is again expected to team up with Class of 2011 phenoms Mike Shaw (DeLaSalle) and Wayne Blackshear (Curie) to form one of the strong travel teams in the country next year with the Mac Irvin Fire, the legendary Grassroots program based out of Chicago, Illinois.
