Garrett grabs 11 points in college debut!

By Antonio Curro - NY2LA Sports

November 11, 2007

Former Wisconsin prep star Diante Garrett began his career this past weekend for Iowa State in style as he grabbed 11 points in his debut to help lead the Cyclones to a 58-44 victory over Winston-Salem in the 2007 Cyclone Challenge held this past weekend in Ames, Iowa.

The 2007 NY2LA Sports Milwaukee Metro Area Player of the Year and former Milwaukee Vincent star really made his presence felt as he dropped 11 points in only 18 minutes of action!  Garrett utilized his trademark slashing ability to penetrate and slash to the rim in helping the Cyclones past the upstarts from Winston-Salem.  Garrett seemed more and more comfortable with each passing minute and was the main catalyst behind some big runs by Iowa State that allowed them to pull away as he used his ability to break down opposing guards, penetrate, and create easy scoring opportunities for himself around the rim.

Garrett followed up his performance Friday night by grabbing 4 points in limited action as Iowa State slipped past Centenary 67-57 and moved to 2-0.  After watching both games, it looks like Garrett has the makings of something special, which doesn't come as much of surprise to most people in the know.
