Class of 2008 Prospect Watch - 6'5" G/F Jake Barnett - Wisconsin

One of the biggest stories in the state of Wisconsin so far this year has to be the play of 6'5" G/F Jake Barnett of Wauwatosa East.  Not only is Wauwatosa East the #1 team in the Milwaukee Metro area right now, but Jake Barnett has been absolutely sensational game in and game out and has really taken his game to the next level.

The long sharpshooting SG/SF is averaging over 18 points a game and has been a big time contributor on the glass as well.  He's built on the success he had this past spring/summer with the D.T.A. Grassroots program as his outside shot has improved in terms of both range and consistency and he is finally becoming the player most have expected for the past couple of years.  That was clearly evident against Milwaukee Lutheran earlier this year when Barnett dropped 20 points and stroked 6 of 7 trey balls in the 2nd half to help his Tosa East Red Raiders pull away from Andrew Ferry and Milwaukee Lutheran.  Barnett has led Wauwatosa East in scoring 3 of the first four games but beyond that he's also contributed defensively and on the glass while providing the necessary toughness, confidence, and intelligence needed to help the Red Raiders become the best they can be.

Barnett has excellent length, a nice frame, and decent size.  He's also become an excellent spot up shooter with unlimited range once he crosses half court.  However, that's not all as Barnett has also shown a knack for attacking the rim and is willing to get physical and attack the boards as well on both ends, which has been a major reason why Wauwatosa East is 4-0 to start the year.  While Tosa East has tons of depth and versatility at their disposal this year it's the play of Barnett that has really been the catalyst early in games and during key stretches of games that has them as the team to beat right now in the state.  Together with Bryce Powell, Barnett has become a leader on the court and a big time impact player during the 2007-2008 high school season.

He has clearly established himself as one of the top 08' prospects in the state of Wisconsin and one of the top pure shooters around.  He is wide open right now on the recruiting side and could be a steal for anyone looking to grab a spot up and/or catch and shoot G/F in the 08 class!
