Arizona State strikes big....lands Hopkins (MN) Guard Trent Lockett!
Head Coach Herb Sendek and the Arizona State Sun Devils are getting it done in a big way and that trend continued as one of the hottest 09' prospects in the Midwest 6'5" G Trent Lockett of Hopkins (MN) verbally committed to the Sun Devils a few minutes ago! Trent is one of the top prospects in a loaded Class of 2009 for the state of Minnesota and one of the Top 100 prospects nationally in the Class of 2009. Lockett took an unofficial visit to Tempe, Arizona this past weekend and came away so impressed with Head Coach Sendek and the Sun Devils that he gave them the verbal a few minutes ago!
Lockett is a multi-skilled talent who's stock has blown up the past few weeks after a stellar spring/summer season with the Net Gain Sports Grassroots program based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. This past summer he led his 16U NGS team to tournament championships at the 2007 Las Vegas Easter Classic and the 2007 NY2LA Sports Next Level Invitational. Known for his solid athleticism, excellent frame, smooth stroke, and killer pull up jumper, Lockett chose the Sun Devils after heavy recruiting the past few weeks from the likes of Stanford, Wake Forest, Michigan, Iowa State, Wisconsin and host of other high major Division 1 powers!
Don't get it twisted either because Lockett is not only a talent on the court, he's an excellent student as well and very well may become the first Sun Devils player to be admitted to the Arizona State honors program. So you can not only expect Trent to put it down on the court, but he'll be doing the same off the court as well.
This is a big time score for Sendek and the Sun Devils who already have 2 McDonald's All-Americans in the fold at Arizona State and have now shown they can expand their reach into the Midwest and grab a top prospect like Lockett!
