The UA Elite 24 wasn’t the only action on the grassroots circuit this past weekend as talented guard Kyle Davis came off the board along with a couple of other prospects.  We look at that and more in our news and notes this morning…

RECENT COMMITMENTS
2013 PG Kyle Davis of Morgan Park (IL) verbally committed to Dayton on Sunday night.  Davis played with the Mac Irvin Fire this summer.

2013 SF Paul Watson of Paradise Valley (AZ) verbally committed to Fresno State on Sunday.  Watson played with the Compton Magic last summer.

2013 F Kristopher Jenkins of Gonzaga College (DC) verbally committed to Villanova on Sunday.  He played with the D.C. Assault last summer.

2013 PG Jordan Woodard of Memorial H.S. (OK) verbally committed to Oklahoma last Thursday.  He played with the Athletes First program during the grassroots travel season.

2014 F/C Jacob Hammond of Oklahoma City Homeschool (OK) verbally committed to Oklahoma as well on Thursday.  He played with the Team June program during the grassroots travel season.

Former top 50 2012 talent Norvel Pelle committed to Iona last week.  Pelle has previously committed to St. Johns before reopening his recruitment when he failed to qualify.  

RECRUITING UPDATES
2013 PG Austin Malone-Mitchell of Milwaukee King currently holds offers from UW-Milwaukee, Lehigh, Samford, Bowling Green, and Chicago State.  He is also hearing from Tulane, SIU, Detroit, and UIC per his father.  He played with the Playground Elite this summer.

2013 G Kendrick Nunn set his official visit schedule last week per his father.  Nunn will visit Illinois the weekend of Sep 14th, Memphis the weekend of Sep 21st, UCLA the weekend of Sept 28th, Ohio State the weekend of Oct 5th, and Marquette the weekend of Oct 12th.  He played with the Meanstreets program last summer.  CHECK OUT THE RECENT NY2LASPORTS.COM INTERVIEW WITH NUNN

2013 SF Semi Ojeleye of Ottawa H.S. (KS) has narrowed his list to Duke, Indiana, Oregon, and Stanford.  The 2012 NY2LA Sports Futures Camp M.V.P. played with the Spiece Mo-Kan program during the grassroots travel season.

2014 F Malek Harris of Sandburg (IL) currently holds offers from Iowa, Depaul, and Miami (OH) with interest coming from a host of others.  CHECK OUT THE RECENT NY2LASPORTS.COM INTERVIEW WITH HARRIS.  He played with the Illinois Wolves this summer.

Tulane is the latest to show interest in 2014 SG Jerrelle Deberry of Destiny (WI) and 2014 F Robert Harris of Milwaukee Riverside (WI).  Deberry currently holds offers from UW-Milwaukee and UW-Green Bay.  Both played with the Playground Elite program this summer.

2014 PG Larry Austin Jr. of Springfield Lanphier (IL) currently holds offers from Iowa, Kansas State, Memphis, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, Depaul, SMU, Bradley and UW-Milwaukee.  Austin is hold hearing from a host of other programs right now.  CHECK OUT THE RECENT NY2LASPORTS.COM INTERVIEW WITH AUSTIN.  He played with the Derrick Rose All-Stars this summer.

2014 SG Jake Showalter and 2014 F Evan Wesenberg of Germantown H.S. (WI) continues to collect interest.  Showalter holds an offer from North Dakota State with interest coming from South Dakota State, Colgate, Belmont, and Portland.  Wesenberg holds offers from North Dakota State and South Dakota State with interest coming from UW-Green Bay, UW-Milwaukee, Colgate, and Belmont.  Both played with the Wisconsin Swing this summer.

Sun Valley Christian (CA) 2014 G Bryan Alberts continues to see his recruiting stock soar.  The talented guard holds offers from Boston College, Colorado, Gonzaga, Northwestern, Oregon State, Stanford, Washington, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma with interest coming from all over the country.  CHECK OUT THE RECENT NY2LASPORTS.COM INTERVIEW WITH ALBERTS.  He played with the BTI Pump N’ Run program this summer.

Kentucky is the latest school to jump on the recruiting trail of 2014 SG Rashad Vaughn of Robbinsdale Cooper H.S. 2013 F Julius Randle of Prestonwood Christian (TX) won the Under Armour Elite 24 Slam Dunk Competition this weekend in California.  Randle played with the Texas Titans this summer. CHECK OUT THE WINNING DUNK HERE

2013 PG Conner Frankamp of Wichita North H.S. (KS) won the Under Armour Elite 24 3 Point Competition this weekend.  Frankamp played with the KC Run GMC program this summer.  He has verbally committed to Kansas.

2013 F Aaron Gordon of Archbishop Mitty (CA), Randle, 2013 PG Aaron Harrison of Travis H.S. (TX), and 2014 F Justise Winslow of St. Johns (TX) were named MVP’s of the Under Armour Elite 24 game this weekend.  Gordon played with the Oakland Soldiers, Randle with the Texas Titans, Harrison with the Houston Defenders, and Winslow with the Houston Hoops program this summer.
