Middletown (Ohio.) 2014 Small Forward Vincent Edwards could be on the verge of adding some big scholarship offers to his collection. Already holding offers from Dayton, Purdue, and Xavier, Edwards feels Michigan and West Virginia are close to joining the mix.
“Coach (John) Beilein seems to like me a lot,” Edwards told NY2LASPORTS Wednesday night. “He thinks I fit well in his program. He thinks I could do a lot for myself and his team. We just have a good connection.
“Coach (Bob) Huggins has come to a lot of my open gyms. He’s already told me I have an offer, but he just wants to make it official. I have to talk to him face-to-face before its official.”
Edwards still remains close with the other schools who have offered him. The 6-7 forward says he has a very good bond relationship with the Purdue coaching staff.
“We still have a pretty good relationship,” Edwards told NY2LASPORTS.COM Wednesday night. “They were really my first offer as far as the Big Ten goes. We have a great connection.”
Edwards feels the same way about Xavier and their coaching staff.
“I have a good connection with them,” he said. “I talk to their staff regularly. The thing that stands out to me is how much the coaching staff cares.
Edwards said Arizona State, Iowa, and Minnesota have been showing a lot of interest. He’s expecting both the Sun Devils and the Gophers to come watch him workout.
No visits are currently set for the Ohio forward, but Edwards does have one in mind, which should occur rather soon.
“As far as visits, I don’t really have a specific date on the schedule, but I will be visiting Michigan pretty soon,” he said.
Edwards plays for King James program during the grassroots travel season.
