17U TEAM PREVIEW
IBA Select – IBA Select will have some of the most sought-after 17s in the loaded NY2LA Spring Extravaganza. Benet center Sean O’Mara is one of the best big men left on the board in 2014 and has been drawing serious high-major interest from all over the country. O’Mara has plenty of size around him in 6-7 Josh Meier (Richards) and 6-8 Nick Czarnowski  (Naperville Central). IBA Select also has a few guards with D1 interest, including West Aurora point guard Jontrell Walker and St. Joseph wing Paul Turner.

Peoria Irish – Illinois commit Michael Finke (Champaign Centennial) leads a balanced Peoria Irish group. The 6-8 Finke can score from multiple levels and has plenty of skill. Teammate Marcus Bartley, a 6-4 guard from Decatur MacArthur, has recently received offers and interest from high- and mid-major programs while 6-7 forward Denzel Smith showed flashes of potential at the Swish N’ Dish.

Quad City Elite – Quad City Elite is led by 2014 forward and Wisconsin commit Ethan Happ (Rockridge) but they also have plenty of size around him. The 6-7 Happ is joined by four other teammates that are 6-6 or taller and, although undersized, point guard CJ Carr is an exciting playmaker that can get in the lane with the best of them.

Rockford Ambassadors – The Ambassadors have yet to his the grassroots circuit this spring but will be led by Rockford Christian shooting guard Thomas Kopelman.

Team NLP – A 2015, Evan Boudreaux, leads the charge for NLP’s two 17s teams. Boudreaux is a rugged 6-7 forward that attacks the glass but also shows some skills while facing up. Boudreaux is joined by scoring guard Jevon Carter from Proviso East and the emergence of North Chicago wing Kurt Hall, who has had a positive spring so far attacking the basket and showing an improving perimeter game.
