With Day 3 of the Next Level Invitational in the books, teams head into the final two days of the tourney fighting to stay alive in the tournament action. Some players have really stepped up for their teams and helped them advance and did all they could to give them a chance to keep playing. Lamonte Bearden once again lit up the court, despite a great test from T.C. Robinson, while others like Jaylin Walker, Kaleb Warner, Brock Stull, Justin Tillman and others put together really strong performances Friday to kickoff bracket play. Here’s a rundown of many of Friday’s top performers and guys who helped swing their recruitment positively...

TOP PERFORMERS
LAMONTE BEARDEN - 2014 - PG - WI SWING-LITSCHER
6-3 - GERMANTOWN H.S. - GERMANTOWN, WI
Bearden was once again the leading force behind the Swing machine as he helped is team work from behind to capture a win and advance in the tournament. Bearden drove hard and finished off plays despite fouls and got to the line. His knack for finding different ways to get the ball through the net was on display in a big way, but he also shared the ball with some sweet passes. He finished the game with a big stat-line of 28 points 5 assists 5 rebounds and 4 steals.

TRISTAN JACKSON - 2016 - G - REACH LEGENDS
6-2 - WEST BLOOMFIELD H.S. - WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI
Jackson continued his hot hand, winning one-on-one’s all game long at the 15U level. Jackson has really good handles and moves smoothly around the court and with purpose. He attacks the rim well and knows how to adjust his body against contact to still finish the lay-up. The young guard scored 20 points.

T.C. ROBINSON - 2014 - PG - MN FURY-ANDERSON
6-0 - SPRING LAKE PARK H.S. - SPRING LAKE PARK, MN
19/3aGoing head-to-head with a guard like Lamonte Bearden is no easy feat, but T.C. Robinson put together quite the performance himself. Robinson did a good job breaking through the pressure at the top of play and getting to the hoop often. He was able to knock in some short-range jumpers kissed off the glass and other times finished all the way for lay-ins. Robinson had his team with an opportunity down the stretch and finished with 19 points and 3 assists.

ISAIAH SHELL - 2014 - G - WI STARZ ELITE
6-0 - ALBANY H.S. - ALBANY, WI
Shell was really strong in WI Starz Elite’s first game Saturday as he was constantly on the attack and making plays around the hoop. Shell showed good control with the ball and a quick first step towards the basket, but also knocked down the perimeter shot as well. He scored 17 points.

BROCK STULL - 2014 - SG - ROCKFORD AMBASSADORS
6-4 - ROCKFORD BOYLAN H.S. - ROCKFORD, IL
Stull had a really solid game in trying to lead his team to an upset win Friday. Though coming up a bit short at the buzzer, Stull was great throughout. He knocked down a couple big three’s, including one late in the game in a defender’s face from deep. On top of that though, he was a leader, kept calm under pressure and did all the little things for the Rockford Ambassadors as well, pulling in 4 rebounds and passing for a couple assists. Stull finished the game with 16 points.

JAYLIN WALKER - 2015 - SG - REACH LEGENDS
6-3 - ROMULUS H.S. - DETROIT, MI
Walker was sensational Friday in a big win for REACH’s 16U squad. Walker was burning it from long range with 7 trey’s, and kept the defense constantly on their heels with his speed and scoring ability. Walker made good decisions with the ball in his hands and got some steals on defense as well. The talented 2-guard scored a major 27 points.

KALEB WARNER - 2014 - SG - EMERALD CITY PIONEERS
6-6 - MERCER ISLAND H.S. - SEATTLE, WA
Warner and company played an all-around steady and strong effort. Warner was excellent on both ends, using his length defensively to deflect passes and cause pressure on the ball which led to team steals. He pulled in 3 rebounds but was really impressive with his clean shooting stroke from outside where he knocked down two nice three’s and also attacked the rim hard, dunking one in transition. He ended the game with 11 points in a runaway victory for the Pioneers.

BRIAN BEARDEN - 2014 - SG - WI SWING-LITSCHER
6-2 - GERMANTOWN H.S. - GERMANTOWN, WI
Brian Bearden was a huge piece to the way Swing clawed their way into the win Friday. With extraordinary hustle and fearless defending, Bearden affected the energy and attitude of the game while making some big plays in transition. Bearden’s huge block down the stretch helped Swing complete the comeback. He had 9 points and 3 steals.

ARIONE FARRAR JR. - 2015 - PG - MN SELECT-OHNSTAD
5-10 - PARK CENTER H.S. - MINNEAPOLIS, MN
Farrar was really smooth playing up and was paramount in Select’s wins Friday. The 2015 point prospect knocked down some three-pointers, one in which he came off a ball screen and pulled up without hesitation. He also passed the ball well, showing good vision and steady handle. Farrar had 13 points one game and 10 in another.

SAM HOHLFELDER - 2015 - G - PEORIA IRISH
6-1 - MAHOMET SEYMOUR H.S. - MAHOMET, IL
The young Peoria Irish guard had a really good game shooting the ball. Hohlfelder tickled the nets for three trey’s and knocked down a number of other shots to the tune of 17 points.

MATT HUBBARD - 2014 - PF - EMERALD CITY PIONEERS
6-9 - COLVILLE H.S. - COLVILLE, WA
Hubbard played as advertised with a great feel for the game both from the perimeter where he was comfortable shooting and moving the offense, but really solid inside. Hubbard showed great body control and the ability to turn either way inside and finish with good touch off the board with his right and left hands.

THOMAS KOPELMAN - 2014 - SG - ROCKFORD AMBASSADORS
6-3 - ROCKFORD LUTHERAN H.S. - ROCKFORD, IL
Kopelman excelled in various facets of the game, doing a bit of everything for his team as they fought hard against Peoria Irish. Kopelman knocked down some big shots in the game but was even more effective facilitating with 7 assists in the contest and also pulling down 6 tough rebounds.

GABE TIERNEY - 2014 - SG - COLORADO TITANS
6-3 - FAIRVIEW H.S. - LONGMONT, CO
Tierney shot the ball well for Colorado all game long, particularly with pull-up jumpers from the mid-range area. Tierney also showed he can step behind the three-point and make shots, his decision making was really good throughout, and he communicated really well with teammates in their defensive pressure. He finished the contest with 15 points.

JUSTIN TILLMAN - 2014 - F - REACH LEGENDS
6-8 - DETROIT PERSHING H.S. - DETROIT, MI
Tillman did not score a ton of points in their game Friday, but he affected the game in other ways. The 6-8 forward’s length and athleticism caused mismatches on both ends for the opponent and Tillman was able to disrupt shots, block a few inside and score a couple nice baskets in transition. Tillman was also really tough on the glass offensively and defensively. The phenom from Detroit finished with 8 points 7 rebounds and 3 blocks and advanced to the next round of the tournament.

RECRUITING NEWS
2014 F Justin Tillman has recently received offers from Xavier and Iowa State, which adds to his list of Kent State, Bowling Green, Rhode Island, UND and Indiana State. He is also receiving interest from Marquette, Michigan and Michigan State.
