Though the summer weather is beginning to cool, August continues to heat up for prospects’ college decisions. More and more class of 2014 prospects, particularly a couple higher profile players like Tadric Jackson (Tift County H.S. / GA) and Craig Victor (Findlay Prep / NV), have given verbal commitments to their choice of school and taken themselves off the board now. Also, some 2015 kids have ended the process early, made their decision and are ready to focus solely on playing basketball the next two years to prepare for the next level. Here’s a news roundup of several of the past week’s commitments from around the country...
 
COMMITMENTS
2013 PF Marcus Bryan of Ravenscroft School (NC) finalized his decision with a verbal commitment to UNC-Charlotte on August 12th. Bryan competed for Garner Road on the grassroots circuit.

Old Dominion got on the board after 2014 F Aaron Carver of Northeastern H.S. (NC) announced his verbal commitment to the Monarchs on Monday, August 12th. Carver played for the NC Blazers program during the grassroots travel season.

2014 C Jacob Hammond of Comanche H.S. (OK) verbally committed August 12th to join the Nebraska Cornhuskers program. Hammond played the grassroots travel season with the Oklahoma Magic program.

Quick and instinctive 2015 PG A.J. Harris of Dunbar H.S. (OH) verbally committed on August 12th to play college basketball at Ohio State. Harris played for King James during the grassroots travel season.

2014 SG Zach McCormick of Turpin H.S. (OH) gave a verbal commitment on August 12th to Miami (OH). McCormick played for King James during the grassroots travel season.

The Yellow Jackets scored big on the trail as Four-Star 2014 G Tadric Jackson of Tift County H.S. (GA) decided to stay in-state and announced his verbal commitment to Georgia Tech, Wednesday, August 14th. Jackson competed with the Georgia Stars program during the grassroots travel season.

Seton Hall gained a prospect with a lot of talent and potential with the verbal commitment from 2014 PF Angel Delgado of Huntington Prep (WV) on Friday, August 16th. Delgado played on the grassroots circuit with the NY Lightning program.

2014 PG Kaleb Joseph of Cushing Academy (MA) gave his verbal commitment to Syracuse Saturday, August 17th, giving the Orangemen a competitive, playmaking point guard. Joseph played for the Mass Rivals during the grassroots season.

Major 2014 prospect PF Craig Victor of Findlay Prep (NV) adds to Arizona’s recruiting class with his verbal commitment to the Wildcats on Saturday. Victor played for New Orleans Elite on the grassroots circuit during the travel season.

2014 SF Justin Burks of Arbor View H.S. (NV) verbally committed Sunday, August 18th to play collegiate basketball at UC-Santa Barbara. Burks played for Las Vegas Prospects on the grassroots circuit during the travel season.

The Crimson Tide have been rolling on the recruitment trail lately, this time in the 2015 class with SF Brandon Austin of Carver H.S. (AL) who announced his verbal commitment to Alabama on Sunday. Austin played with Alabama Challenge during the grassroots travel season.

Missouri landed a good one in 2014 PF Jakeenan Gant of Effingham County H.S. (GA) when he verbally committed Sunday. Gant competed for Southern Stampede during the grassroots travel season.

2014 G Brad Schaub of Marlette H.S. (MI) gave a verbal commitment, Sunday, August 18th, to UMass-Lowell who begins its first year as a Division I program this season. Schaub played with the Hoopgrind Michigan program during the grassroots travel season.

Tennessee snagged a highly regarded big man on Sunday with a verbal commitment from 2014 C C.J. Turman of Morgan County H.S. (GA), August 18th. Turman was a member of Southern Stampede during the grassroots travel season.

The annual hoops exposure camp will enter its 5th year and with a powerful alumni list that includes Semi Ojeleye, Cliff Alexander, Deonte Burton, Kevon Looney, Luke Fischer, Duane Wilson Jr., Riley Dearring, etc.  The camp is a one day camp featuring skill sessions and full length game play and it’s open to 2015-2017 prospects (i.e. Freshmen – Juniors in High School).  NY2LASPORTS.COM and other regional and national recruiting services will be in attendance as well as at least 2 members of the NBPA Top 100 Selection camp committed including, but not limited to, Antonio Curro who was recently selected to the NBPA Top 100 Selection camp committee himself.  For additional details and registration information on the 2013 NY2LA Sports Futures Camp CLICK HERE

CLASS OF 2014-2017 PROSPECTS (i.e. Freshman-Seniors)
MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN
The annual fall league enters its 6th year and has become the premiere fall league in the state of Wisconsin for aspiring high school boys basketball players.  With a primary focus on development and preparation for the upcoming high school season, the league looks to prepare each participant for the mental and physical experience of high school basketball while also focusing on providing maximum exposure and skill development in the process.  The league will run from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturdays October 19th, October 26th, and November 2nd and will feature skill sessions and 2 full length games per week.  In addition to weekly and cumulative individual stats, articles will be posted each week on NY2LASPORTS.COM and 414HOOPS.COM recapping top performers, stock boosters, etc.  Each registered participant will also receive a customized reversible jersey and t-shirt and a complete player profile in the NY2LASPORTS.COM database that is view by college coaches and scouting services across the country.  For additional details and registration information on the 2013 NY2LA Sports Breakfast of Champions Fall League CLICK HERE

CLASS OF 2018-2019 PROSPECTS (i.e. 7th-8th graders)
MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN
The annual fall league for aspiring middle school boys basketball players is open to current 7th and 8th grade prospects.  With a primary focus on skill development the Junior Breakfast of Champions Fall League will offer skill sessions and 1 full length game each week.  The league will run from 5 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. on Saturdays October 19th, 26th, and November 2nd and will feature maximum exposure opportunities while also providing each participant information on areas to improve, individual skill drills that assist in development, and the fun of full length games.  Articles will be posted each week on our middle school affiliate at GENERATIONNEXTBASKETBALL.COM recapping top performers, stock boosters, etc. and weekly and cumulative individual stats will be kept week as well.  Each registered participant will also receive a customized reversible jersey and t-shirts and a complete player profile.  For additional details and registration information on the 2013 NY2LA Sports Junior Breakfast of Champions Fall League CLICK HERE
