School is getting started and another week of commitments ensued as we near the last stretch of August with local and national prospects verbally picking their future college destinations. Some surprises hit the wire as a couple of the nation’s top 2014 point guards ended their recruitment and a talented 7-footer joined an excellent recruiting class for the Terapins. One of the country’s best, Emmanuel Mudiay of Prime Prep (TX), was clearly the prime prospect coming off the board this week, with Josh Perkins of Huntington Prep (WV) also ending a lot of speculation and making his verbal commitment the same day. Here’s a news roundup of the commitments over the past week...

COMMITMENTS
2014 G Cameron Ward of Marshall H.S. (WI) chose Tuesday to play collegiate basketball at Vermont. Ward competed with the WI Playground Warriors program during the grassroots travel season.

Vermont landed another 2014 prospect with the verbal commitment from SG Brandon Hatton of Dixie Heights H.S. (KY) on Wednesday, August 21st. Hatton played with the Northern Kentucky Tar Heels program during the grassroots travel season.
 
Wyoming got its future lead guard when 2014 PG Jeremy Lieberman of Calabasas H.S. (CA) verbally committed on August 21st. Lieberman played for BTI Pump N Run during the grassroots travel season.

2014 SG Darian Bryant of St. John’s College H.S. (DC) verbally committed to George Washington on Thursday, August 22nd. Bryant played for Team Takeover throughout the grassroots travel season.

Ohio State already boasts a tough 2014 class and now added a solid 2015 prospect with SF Mickey Mitchell of Plano West H.S. (TX) verbally committing to the Buckeyes on Thursday. Mitchell plays with the Texas Titans program during the grassroots travel season.

Maryland landed its big man Thursday as 2014 C Trayvon Reed of La Lumiere School (IN) verbally committed to the Terps, adding to an already talented recruiting class. Reed played with E1T1 Elite on the grassroots travel circuit this past season.

2014 G Jordan Shea of Lodi H.S. (WI) verbally committed Thursday to play for UMass-Lowell, giving the River Hawks another talented prospect in that class. Shea played for the Madison Spartans grassroots programs during the travel season.

2014 PG Emmanuel Mudiay of Prime Prep (TX) ended months of speculation, stuck to his word and “shocked” the nation with his verbal commitment to SMU Saturday, August 24th. Mudiay competed this grassroots travel season with MWA Elite.

Gonzaga struck big getting a verbal commitment from 2014 PG Josh Perkins of Huntington Prep (WV) on Saturday, giving the Zags a Four-Star floor general. Perkins played for the Colorado Miners program during the grassroots travel season.
 
2015 SG Ronnie Suggs of Washington H.S. (MO) chose to verbally commit to Missouri on Sunday. Suggs competes with the St. Louis Eagles grassroots program on the travel circuit.

2014 SG Gabe Vincent of St. Mary’s H.S. (CA) announced his verbal commitment to UC-Santa Barbara on Sunday evening. Vincent competed on the Oakland Soldiers Elite team during the grassroots travel season.

The annual hoops exposure camp will enter its 5th year and with a powerful alumni list that includes Semi Ojeleye, Cliff Alexander, Deonte Burton, Kevon Looney, Luke Fischer, Duane Wilson Jr., Riley Dearring, etc.  The camp is a one day camp featuring skill sessions and full length game play and it’s open to 2015-2017 prospects (i.e. Freshmen – Juniors in High School).  NY2LASPORTS.COM and other regional and national recruiting services will be in attendance as well as at least 2 members of the NBPA Top 100 Selection camp committed including, but not limited to, Antonio Curro who was recently selected to the NBPA Top 100 Selection camp committee himself.  For additional details and registration information on the 2013 NY2LA Sports Futures Camp CLICK HERE

CLASS OF 2014-2017 PROSPECTS (i.e. Freshman-Seniors)
MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN
The annual fall league enters its 6th year and has become the premiere fall league in the state of Wisconsin for aspiring high school boys basketball players.  With a primary focus on development and preparation for the upcoming high school season, the league looks to prepare each participant for the mental and physical experience of high school basketball while also focusing on providing maximum exposure and skill development in the process.  The league will run from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturdays October 19th, October 26th, and November 2nd and will feature skill sessions and 2 full length games per week.  In addition to weekly and cumulative individual stats, articles will be posted each week on NY2LASPORTS.COM and 414HOOPS.COM recapping top performers, stock boosters, etc.  Each registered participant will also receive a customized reversible jersey and t-shirt and a complete player profile in the NY2LASPORTS.COM database that is view by college coaches and scouting services across the country.  For additional details and registration information on the 2013 NY2LA Sports Breakfast of Champions Fall League CLICK HERE

CLASS OF 2018-2019 PROSPECTS (i.e. 7th-8th graders)
MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN
The annual fall league for aspiring middle school boys basketball players is open to current 7th and 8th grade prospects.  With a primary focus on skill development the Junior Breakfast of Champions Fall League will offer skill sessions and 1 full length game each week.  The league will run from 5 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. on Saturdays October 19th, 26th, and November 2nd and will feature maximum exposure opportunities while also providing each participant information on areas to improve, individual skill drills that assist in development, and the fun of full length games.  Articles will be posted each week on our middle school affiliate at GENERATIONNEXTBASKETBALL.COM recapping top performers, stock boosters, etc. and weekly and cumulative individual stats will be kept week as well.  Each registered participant will also receive a customized reversible jersey and t-shirts and a complete player profile.  For additional details and registration information on the 2013 NY2LA Sports Junior Breakfast of Champions Fall League CLICK HERE
