The recruitment trail went ablaze this weekend with a number of prospects making verbal commitments over the weekend. SG Philip Flory (WI) became the first 2017 prospect to come off the board and some of the country’s top forwards, including 2014 PF Leron Black, announced their decisions as well. August was a busy month with commitments and if Sunday was any indication, September might be even hotter. COMMITMENTS
2014 PG JaQuel Richmond of Wesleyan Christian Academy (NC) verbally committed on Tuesday to play collegiately at the University of Houston. Richmond played for CP3 All-Stars and Team Loaded during the grassroots travel season.

Providence scores big with one of the top shot blockers in the country with 2014 C Paschal Chukwu of Fairfield College Prep (CT) verbally committed on Thursday, August 29th. Chukwu played with Connecticut Basketball Club during the grassroots travel season.

Chicago State landed 2014 F Josh Meier of Richards H.S. (IL) who verbally committed Thursday. Meier played for IBA Select during the grassroots travel season.

Utah gets another verbal commitment from 2014 PF Kyle Kuzma of Rise Academy (PA) who made his announcement Friday to join the Utes. Kuzma played with Dorian’s Pride during the grassroots travel season.

2014 PF Justin Tillman of Pershing H.S. (MI) ended his recruitment by verbally committing to VCU on Friday, August 30th giving Coach Smart a versatile post player to work with next year. Tillman competed for REACH Legends during the grassroots travel season.

Marquette landed its future off guard claiming another home-state prospect in 2017 SG Phillip Flory of Wisconsin Rapids H.S. (WI) after he verbally committed to the Golden Eagles on Saturday, August 31st. Flory played for the Playground Elite and WI Playground Warriors during the grassroots travel season.

East Carolina got a verbal commitment from a promising lead guard with 2014 PG Lance Tejada of Blanche Ely H.S. (FL) making his decision on Saturday. Tejada played for Southern Stampede during the grassroots travel season.

2014 SG Wade Baldwin of St. Joseph’s H.S. (NJ) stopped his recruitment Sunday, announcing his decision to verbally commit to Vanderbilt on Sunday, September 1st. Baldwin was a key player for the Sports U-Team Izod program during the grassroots travel season.

Illinois snagged a Four-Star standout when 2014 PF Leron Black of White Station H.S. (TN) verbally committed Sunday to play his college basketball for the Illini. Black competed on the grassroots circuit with the Team Thad program.

2014 SF TeMarcus Blanton of Luella H.S. (GA) chose South Carolina, verbally committing on Sunday evening to play for the Gamecocks. Blanton played for Atlanta Xpress during the grassroots travel season.

2014 F Grant Bryant of Kell H.S. (GA) also verbally committed to East Carolina on Sunday. Bryant played for the Georgia Stars program during the grassroots travel season.

2014 G/F Evan Bailey of Massillon Jackson H.S. (OH) verbally committed to the College of Charleston on Saturday.  He played with the All Ohio Red program during the grassroots travel season.

The Demon Deacons struck on the trail with 7-2, 2014 C Isaac Haas of Hokes Bluff H.S. (AL) as he verbally committed to play at Wake Forest on Sunday. Haas played for Alabama Challenge on the grassroots circuit.

The Tigers landed hot on the trail with 2014 SF Sam Logwood of La Lumiere School (IN) who verbally committed to Auburn on Sunday, September 1st. Logwood played with Eric Gordon All-Stars during the grassroots travel season.

2014 PG Isaiah Wright of Borah High School (ID) came off the board on Sunday as well as he verbally committed to Utah.  Wright played with the Hoop Dreams program during the grassroots travel season.

UI-Chicago got a hometown standout with a verbal commitment from 2014 PF Tai Odiase of Homewood-Flossmoor (IL) on Sunday, September 1st. Odiase played for Meanstreets during the grassroots travel season.

2014 PF Isaiah Wilkins of Greater Atlanta Christian School (GA) gave a verbal commitment to Virginia on Sunday. Wilkins played with the Georgia Stars program during the grassroots travel season.

Southern Mississippi struck on the trail on Sunday as well when 2014 PF Willie Carmichael of Wekiva H.S. (FL) gave them a verbal commitment.  He played with the Florida Tarheels during the grassroots travel season.

The annual fall league enters its 6th year and has become the premiere fall league in the state of Wisconsin for aspiring high school boys basketball players.  With a primary focus on development and preparation for the upcoming high school season, the league looks to prepare each participant for the mental and physical experience of high school basketball while also focusing on providing maximum exposure and skill development in the process.  The league will run from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturdays October 19th, October 26th, and November 2nd and will feature skill sessions and 2 full length games per week.  In addition to weekly and cumulative individual stats, articles will be posted each week on NY2LASPORTS.COM and 414HOOPS.COM recapping top performers, stock boosters, etc.  Each registered participant will also receive a customized reversible jersey and t-shirt and a complete player profile in the NY2LASPORTS.COM database that is view by college coaches and scouting services across the country.  For additional details and registration information on the 2013 NY2LA Sports Breakfast of Champions Fall League CLICK HERE
