School has started across the country, college football season has arrived and basketball recruits are in prime time for taking visits and making decisions. One of the major names to come off the board this week started Labor Day as Trevon Bluiett (IN) made announced his college decision, Louisville snagged a future big man and Darrell Davis (MI) decided on Dayton. Several others made great choices as well with their commitments throughout the week. Here’s a news overview of the various recruiting commitments this past week...

COMMITMENTS
After traveling to Los Angeles for a visit, 2014 G Trevon Bluiett of Park Tudor H.S. (IN) gave his verbal commitment Monday to new Bruins Head Coach, Steve Alford, which will provide UCLA a huge offensive punch next year. Bluiett played on the circuit with the Spiece Indy Heat grassroots program.

2014 G Stephen Edwards of Putnam City H.S. (OK) verbally committed to Santa Clara Tuesday, August 3rd. Edwards competed with the Oklahoma Wizards program during the grassroots travel season.

2014 SG Mory Diane of Pershing H.S. (MI) gave a verbal commitment to Buffalo on Tuesday. Diane competed with REACH Legends during the grassroots travel season.

Coming off the board early, 2016 G/F Mark Vital of Washing-Marion H.S. (LA) chose to verbally commit Tuesday to Baylor as the Bears make a big national statement obtaining the talented young wing. Vital played for Southern Elite during the grassroots travel season.

On Wednesday, 2014 PG Robert Cartwright of Flintridge Prep (CA) verbally committed to Stanford. Cartwright played for LA Rockfish during the grassroots travel season.

2014 G Derek Rongstad of Middelton H.S. (WI) accepted accepted a preferred walk-on spot at UW-Milwaukee on Wednesday, September 6th. Rongstad played with the Madison Spartans grassroots program during the travel season this year.

2014 C Martin Geben of St. Maria Goretti (MD) verbally committed on Friday, September 6th to play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Geben played with the Team Takeover grassroots program.

The defending national champs get another prospect in 2014 PF Jaylen Johnson of Ypsilanti H.S. (MI) gave a verbal commitment to Louisville on Friday. Johnson played with Dorian’s Pride during the grassroots travel season.

Gifted 2014 SG Jared Terrell of Brewster Academy (NH) verbally committed to Oklahoma State on Friday. Terrell played with Expressions Elite during the grassroots season.

2014 PF Abdul-Malik Abu of Kimball Union Academy (NH) ended months of speculation and made his decision, verbally committing to N.C. State on Saturday who is building a strong ’14 class. Abu competed with Expressions Elite on the grassroots circuit.

Davidson picked up on the trail with 2014 PF Peyton Aldridge of Labrae H.S. (OH) giving them a verbal commitment Saturday. Aldridge played with Tea, Work during the grassroots season.

Boise State picks up 2014 SF Chandler Hutchison of Mission Viejo H.S. (CA) who verbally committed Saturday. He played with Team Eastbay during the grassroots travel season.

2014 PG Paul Jorgensen of Don Bosco H.S. (NJ) committed verbally to George Washington on Saturday, September 7th. Jorgensen played with the NY Rens during the grassroots travel season.

2014 G Darrell Davis of Douglass H.S. (MI) ended his recruitment by verbally committing to Dayton on Sunday, September 8th. Davis competed with the Michigan Hurricanes program during the grassroots travel season.

Temple got a solid prospect with the verbal commitment Sunday from 2014 PF Obi Enechionyia of St. James School (MD). He played for Nike Team Takeover during the grassroots travel season.

Memphis gets a talented and versatile lead man with the verbal commitment from 2014 PG Dominic Magee of Helen Cox H.S. (LA) on Sunday. Magee competed for Louisiana Future on the grassroots circuit this year.

After striking hot in the 2016 class, Baylor also adds talented 2014 PF T.J. Maston of DeSoto H.S. (TX) who verbally committed Sunday. Maston played with the Team Texas Elite grassroots program during the travel season.

2014 G Paul Miller of Kettle Moraine H.S. (WI) made his decision Sunday and verbally committed to North Dakota State. Miller was a key member for the WI Shooters program during the grassroots travel season.

2014 PF Jack Williams of Chaminade H.S. (CA) gives Long Beach State a talented post player down the road with his verbal commitment Sunday. Williams competed with Double Pump Elite during the grassroots travel season.

CLASS OF 2014-2017 PROSPECTS (i.e. Freshman-Seniors)
MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN
The annual fall league enters its 6th year and has become the premiere fall league in the state of Wisconsin for aspiring high school boys basketball players.  With a primary focus on development and preparation for the upcoming high school season, the league looks to prepare each participant for the mental and physical experience of high school basketball while also focusing on providing maximum exposure and skill development in the process.  The league will run from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturdays October 19th, October 26th, and November 2nd and will feature skill sessions and 2 full length games per week.  In addition to weekly and cumulative individual stats, articles will be posted each week on NY2LASPORTS.COM and 414HOOPS.COM recapping top performers, stock boosters, etc.  Each registered participant will also receive a customized reversible jersey and t-shirt and a complete player profile in the NY2LASPORTS.COM database that is view by college coaches and scouting services across the country.  For additional details and registration information on the 2013 NY2LA Sports Breakfast of Champions Fall League CLICK HERE
