Prospects continue hitting all the college spots taking their visits and getting a good feel for where they want to attend college. This week saw a couple players who were previously pledged to other schools find new “homes” with their verbal commitments, but 2014 PG Tyler Ulis’ announcement Friday night to attend UK was the buzz of the weekend. PF Paul White also made Sunday very interesting with his college choice, making John Thompson III a very happy coach this weekend as well. Some other high profile players like PG Jordan McLaughlin also verbally committed to their schools of favor. Following is a news roundup of many of the past week’s commitments from around the country...

COMMITMENTS
2014 G J.P. Macura of Lakeville North H.S. (MN) gave Xavier his verbal commitment on Monday, September 9th. Macura played for D1 Minnesota during the grassroots travel season.

Former Indiana State commit 2014 PG Bryant McIntosh of Greensburg H.S. (IN) verbally committed to Northwestern this past Monday, September 9th. McIntosh played for the Eric Gordon All-Stars during the grassroots travel season.

2014 Montverde Academy (FL) G Justin Bibbs verbally committed Tuesday to play college basketball in the ACC with the Hokies at Virginia Tech. Bibbs played on the grassroots circuit with the Ohio Basketball Club.

Coach Bobby Hurley got his point guard after landing a verbal commitment from 2014 PG Lamonte Bearden of Germantown H.S. (WI) on Tuesday, September 10th. Bearden played with the WI Swing grassroots program during the travel season.

2014 G Devin Watson of (CA) verbally committed on Tuesday to Oregon State. Watson played for Pangos Elite during the grassroots travel season.

2014 G Jevon Carter of Proviso East H.S. (IL) ended the speculation and announced his decision Wednesday, September 11th, to play for Coach Huggins at West Virginia. Carter was a standout guard on Team NLP during the grassroots travel season.

One of the top guard prospects came off the board after 2014 PG Jordan McLaughlin of Etiwanda H.S. (CA) verbally committed on Wednesday to stay close to home and play for the USC Trojans. He played for Prodigy Elite during the grassroots travel season.

After reopening his recruitment in July, 2014 PG Quentin Snider of Ballard H.S. (KY) is back off the market, verbally committing Thursday to Illinois after enjoying his recent visit to the school. Snider has competed with the Louisville Magic program on the grassroots circuit.

The Citadel scored a verbal commitment from 2014 G Jake Wright of Hopkins H.S. (MN) on Wednesday. Wright competed with Howard Pulley during the grassroots season.

2014 PG Marcus Bartley of MacArthur H.S. (IL) gave a verbal commitment to Saint Louis on Thursday, giving the Billikens a talented lead guard with a lot of upside. Bartley played with Peoria Irish-Finke during the grassroots travel season.

Seton Hall strikes on the trail with a verbal commitment from 2014 SG Khadeen Carrington of Bishop Loughlin H.S. (NY) on Friday, September 13th. Carrington played for the NY Lightning during the grassroots season.

2014 PG Tyler Ulis of Marian Catholic H.S. (IL) ended his recruitment Friday as he announced his plans to be the future Wildcats floor general, verbally committing to Coach Calipari and Kentucky. Ulis competed for Meanstreets during the grassroots travel season.

During his official visit to Purdue, 2014 F Vincent Edwards of Middletown H.S. (OH) verbally committed to the Boiler Makers on Saturday. He played for King James Shooting Stars on the grassroots circuit.

On Saturday, 2014 F Sean Sellers of Greensburg H.S. (IN) committed verbally to play ball at Ball State. Sellers played for the Eric Gordon All-Stars program during the grassroots travel season.

Vanderbilt gets talented 2014 SG Matthew Fisher-Davis of Charlotte Christian H.S. (NC) to verbally commit Sunday evening. He played with the Charlotte Nets during the grassroots season.

2014 G JayQuan McCloud of North Chicago H.S. (IL) decided to verbally commit to Murray State, he announced Sunday night. McCloud was a key piece to the Illinois Wolves grassroots program on the circuit.

2014 G prospect, Rusty Reigel of Charlotte Latin H.S. (NC) verbally committed on Sunday to Davidson. He had competed with Carolina Challenge during the grassroots season.

Boise State gets 2014 big man with the verbal commitment of C David Wacker of Judson H.S. (TX) Sunday night. Wacker played for the Spurs grassroots program this travel season.

Georgetown landed another excellent 2014 prospect as PF Paul White of Whitney Young H.S. (IL) verbally committed on Sunday, September 15th, to play for the Hoyas. White played with Meanstreets during the grassroots travel season.

FUTURES CAMP REWIND
2013 Futures Camp hit the courts this past weekend as 2015-2017 prospects from across the country made the trip to Milwaukee for the fifth annual showcase camp.  As the final whistle blew 2015 C Diamond Stone, 2015 PG Jimmy Whitt, and 2015 SF Joseph Toye shared MVP honors for the 2015 class, 2016 PG Zachary Norvell and 2016 PF Alonzo Chatmann shared the MVP honors for the 2016 class, and 2017 SF Terrence Lewis and 2017 PG Isaiah Coleman this past weekend.  We will have complete coverage of this past weekend's camp starting later today.

The annual hoops exposure camp will enter its 5th year and with a powerful alumni list that includes Semi Ojeleye, Cliff Alexander, Deonte Burton, Kevon Looney, Luke Fischer, Duane Wilson Jr., Riley Dearring, etc. The camp is a one day camp featuring skill sessions and full length game play and it’s open to 2015-2017 prospects (i.e. Freshmen – Juniors in High School). The annual fall league enters its 6th year and has become the premiere fall league in the state of Wisconsin for aspiring high school boys basketball players. With a primary focus on development and preparation for the upcoming high school season, the league looks to prepare each participant for the mental and physical experience of high school basketball while also focusing on providing maximum exposure and skill development in the process. The league will run from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturdays October 19th, October 26th, and November 2nd and will feature skill sessions and 2 full length games per week. In addition to weekly and cumulative individual stats, articles will be posted each week on NY2LASPORTS.COM and 414HOOPS.COM recapping top performers, stock boosters, etc. Each registered participant will also receive a customized reversible jersey and t-shirt and a complete player profile in the NY2LASPORTS.COM database that is view by college coaches and scouting services across the country. The annual fall league for aspiring middle school boys basketball players is open to current 7th and 8th grade prospects. With a primary focus on skill development the Junior Breakfast of Champions Fall League will offer skill sessions and 1 full length game each week. The league will run from 5 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. on Saturdays October 19th, 26th, and November 2nd and will feature maximum exposure opportunities while also providing each participant information on areas to improve, individual skill drills that assist in development, and the fun of full length games.
