What a week in the recruiting world! With the 2013 high school season just around the corner, a large number of prospects wanting to get their futures squared away, making their college choices this past week. A wave major prospects like Goodluck Okonoboh, Trey Kell, Riley LaChance and Kameron Chatman all came off the board as well, while Trevon Bluiett went back on the board. COMMITMENTS
Big man and powerful 2014 PF Ben Bentil of St. Andrew’s School (DE) announced Monday, September 30th his decision to verbally commit to Providence. Bentil played for We-R-1 during the grassroots season.

Talented 2014 G James Demery of Northside Christian School (NC) verbally committed to St. Joseph’s on Monday. Demery competed with Team Charlotte on the grassroots circuit during the travel season.

Sharpshooting 2014 wing Ronnie Harrell of Denver East H.S. (CO) became the latest in a talented crop of prospects to Creighton after he verbally committed to the Bluejays on Monday, September 30th. Harrell competed with Chauncey Billups Elite during the the grassroots travel season.

On Monday, Vanderbilt snagged its future scoring guard by adding a verbal commitent from 2014 SG Riley LaChance of Brookfield Central H.S. (WI) who showed all summer with the Ray Allen Select grassroots program that he can score with anyone.

2014 PF Josh Martin of Bothell H.S. (WA) verbally committed himself to Minnesota who hopes to compete strongly in the Big Ten the next few years.

The Panthers pick up a tough guard with great upside in 2014 G Brock Stull of Boylan Catholic H.S. (IL) on Monday when he committed verbally to UW-Milwaukee. Stull played with the Rockford Ambassadors program during the grassroots season.

National runner-up reels one in from the west coast with 2014 G/F Kameron Chatman of Long Beach Poly (CA) who verbally committed to the Michigan Wolverines on Tuesday, October 1st. Chatman played with ICP Elite during the grassroots travel season.

2014 F Mustafa Jones of Cardinal Hayes H.S. (NY) chose to verbally commit to Central Connecticut State on Tuesday. Jones played with The City Hoops program during the grassroots season.

2014 SG George “Trey” Kell of St. Augustine H.S. (CA) came off the board Tuesday, verbally committing himself to hometown San Diego State and becoming a future-Aztec. Kell played with San Diego All-Stars throughout the grassroots travel season.

Xavier gained a big man Tuesday, with good skills and potential with the verbal commitment from 2014 C Sean O’Mara of Benet Academy (IL). He played with IBA Select during the grassroots travel season.

The Ducks got a verbal commitment from talented 2014 PF Ray Kasongo of East Ridge H.S. (KY). Kasongo announced his decision to join Oregon next year on Wednesday, October 2nd. He played with the Ohio BB Club throughout the grassroots season.

Busy Texas Tech strikes on its first commitment of the week, getting a verbal from 2014 SG Justin Gray of Berkeley Prep (FL) on Thursday. Gray played for the Florida Select program during the grassroots travel season.

2014 G Corey Henson of DeMatha Catholic H.S. (MD) verbally committed on Thursday to Wagner. He competed with D.C. Assault during the travel season.

2014 PF Rashard Kelly of Hargrave Military Academy (VA) committed verbally on Thursday to play basketball at Wichita State. Kelly played for D.C. Assault on the grassroots circuit this past summer.

2014 C Goodluck Okonoboh of Wilbraham & Monson (MA) pledged to become a Running Rebel, verbally committing to attend and play at UNLV. Okonoboh competed for Mass Rivals during the grassroots season.

Clemson got one of its primary recruiting targets to verbally commit on Friday, October 4th. 2014 SF Donte Grantham of Hargrave Military Academy (VA) verbally vowed to play collegiately as a Tiger in the ACC. Grantham was a key piece to a successful D.C. Assault team this summer.

St. Vincent-St. Mary’s (OH) 2014 SG Jalen Hudson ended his recruitment Friday by announcing his verbal commitment to Virginia Tech. Hudson played with the Team Loaded (NC) program during the grassroots travel season.

With much of the basketball country speculating where 2014 C Chinanu Onuaku of Riverdale Baptist (MD) would decide to play college basketball, he gave his answer Friday, verbally committing to the defending National Champion Cardinals of Louisville. Onuaku was the key cog inside for D.C. Assault on the grassroots circuit.

2015 PG Jesse Wade of Davis H.S. (UT) decided on Friday to verbally commit to Gonzaga which gives them two excellent lead guard prospects for the future.

On Saturday, skilled 2014 C Joe Furstinger of Santa Margarita Catholic (CA) verbally committed to New Mexico. Furstinger played with Earl Watson Pangos Elite during the grassroots season.

2014 PF Zach Smith of Plano East H.S. (TX) verbally committed Saturday, October 5th to attend Texas Tech following  his senior year. He played for Pro Skills during the grassroots travel season.

Hoftsra got a verbal commitment Saturday from 2014 PF Andre Walker of Bullis (MD). Walker competed with D.C. Assault on the grassroots circuit.

2014 SG JT Escobar of Miami Springs (FL) chose Sunday to verbally commit to Ole Miss.

2014 SF Eric Lockett of Whitefield Academy (GA) had verbally committed to George Mason on Sunday.

Oklahoma strikes big with big man 2014 PF Jamuni McNeace of Allen H.S. (TX) on Sunday, October 6th. McNeace competed with Texas Select during the travel season.

Lehigh gets its man as 2014 PG Kahron Ross of Jonesboro H.S. (AR) verbally committed his services on Sunday. He played with the Arkansas Hawks program during the grassroots season.

Stetson earned itself of verbal commitment Sunday afternoon from 2014 C Wyatt Sikora of Florida Christian School (FL).

The Wolverines hit on the trail for the second time this week when 2014 SF D.J. Wilson of Capital Christian School (CA) announced his verbal commitment to Michigan on Sunday, October 6th. Wilson played with Team Superstar on the grassroots circuit during the travel season.

DE-COMMITMENT
Extremely talented scorer and 2014 SG Trevon Bluiett of Park Tudor H.S. (IN) decided Thursday, October 3rd to reopen his recruitment, leaving his verbal to UCLA. Bluiett competed nationally with Spiece Indy Heat during the grassroots season.

The annual fall league enters its 6th year and has become the premiere fall league in the state of Wisconsin for aspiring high school boys basketball players. With a primary focus on development and preparation for the upcoming high school season, the league looks to prepare each participant for the mental and physical experience of high school basketball while also focusing on providing maximum exposure and skill development in the process. The league will run from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturdays October 19th, October 26th, and November 2nd and will feature skill sessions and 2 full length games per week. In addition to weekly and cumulative individual stats, articles will be posted each week on NY2LASPORTS.COM and 414HOOPS.COM recapping top performers, stock boosters, etc. Each registered participant will also receive a customized reversible jersey and t-shirt and a complete player profile in the NY2LASPORTS.COM database that is view by college coaches and scouting services across the country. CLASS OF 2018-2019 PROSPECTS (i.e. 7th-8th graders)

The annual fall league for aspiring middle school boys basketball players is open to current 7th and 8th grade prospects. With a primary focus on skill development the Junior Breakfast of Champions Fall League will offer skill sessions and 1 full length game each week. The league will run from 5 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. on Saturdays October 19th, 26th, and November 2nd and will feature maximum exposure opportunities while also providing each participant information on areas to improve, individual skill drills that assist in development, and the fun of full length games. Articles will be posted each week on our middle school affiliate at GENERATIONNEXTBASKETBALL.COM recapping top performers, stock boosters, etc. and weekly and cumulative individual stats will be kept week as well. The annual middle school tournament will enter its 4th year and will once again feature some of the top middle school teams in the Midwest. The tournament offers a 3 game guarantee while using a pool play and single elimination playoff format.
