Another week in the books, but it sure was an exciting one for a few of the nation’s top college programs who secured commitments from prospects many people have been waiting to find out where they would end up. Kelly Oubre has been one of the country’s hottest prospects lately, but he made his decision this week to attend Kansas where he will look to flourish. Elbert Robinson out of Texas and Ahmed Hill from Georgia both too made their big decisions public this week, as well as a highly ranked 2015 recruit, K.J. Lawson, coming off the board. COMMITMENTS
The Fighting Irish landed a talented 2014 PF in Bonzie Colson of St. Andrew’s H.S. (RI) who verbally committed to Notre Dame on Monday, October 7th. Colson played for BABC on the grassroots circuit during the travel season.

2014 G Kyle Haber of Dubuque Senior H.S. (IA) verbally committed on Monday to Brown University. Haber was a key cog in the Iowa Barnstormers lineup throughout the grassroots season.

Memphis looks to the future after receiving a verbal commitment on Monday, from 2015 SF K.J. Lawson of Hamilton H.S. (TN) who announced his decision to stay at home with the Tigers. He competed with Team Penny during the grassroots season.

Skilled, athletic 2014 PF Kelan Martin of Ballard H.S. (KY) gave a verbal commitment to Butler on Monday. Martin played with Indiana Elite during the grassroots travel season.

Brewster Academy’s 2014 G Max Twyman verbally committed on Monday to play basketball at Albany. Twyman played with the New England Playaz grassroots program during the travel season.

2014 G Wheeler Baker of Osseo H.S. (MN) verbally committed to play collegiately for Albany on Tuesday, solidifying Albany’s future backcourt. Baker played with the MN Fury program during the grassroots travel season.

2014 F Grant Benzinger of Moeller H.S. (OH) verbally committed Tuesday to Wright State. Benzinger played for the Shining Stars programs during the grassroots season.

Saint Mary’s received a verbal commitment from 2014 PF Evan Fitzner of Parker H.S. (CA) on Tuesday, October 8th. Fitzner competed for Double Pump during the grassroots travel season.

One of the fastest-risers up the rankings over the summer, 2014 SF Kelly Oubre of Findlay Prep (NV) ended all speculation and ended his recruitment by verbally committing to perennial national powerhouse Kansas on Tuesday, October 8th. Oubre was a star for the Houston Hoops program on the grassroots circuit.

LSU gets a huge lift in its 2014 recruiting class after 7-0, 320-pound C Elbert Robinson of Lakeview Centennial H.S. (TX) verbally committed to the Tigers on Tuesday. Robinson played with the Dallas Seawolves program during the grassroots travel season.

Top 100 ranked 2014 SF Malik Pope of Laguna Creek H.S. (CA) made his college decision Wednesday and announced his verbal commitment to play for San Diego State. He played for Team Superstar during the grassroots travel season.

2014 F/C Jabari Craig of Fishburne Military Academy (VA) decided to commit verbally to USC on Thursday, October 10th, giving the Trojans a big man with great upside to work with. He competed with the Northern Kings program during the grassroots season.

Ohio got a verbal commitment from 2014 SG Kendall Crute of North Cobb Christian (GA) on Thursday. Crute was a member of the Georgia Stars program on the grassroots circuit.

2014 PG Taelin Webb of Corona Roosevelt H.S. (CA) verbally committed to Cal State-Northridge on Thursday. Webb played with Team Superstar during the travel season.

The Hawkeyes landed another 2014 prospect on October 11th when F Dominique Uhl of Point Pleasant Beach H.S. (NJ) verbally committed to Iowa. He played with the Jersey Shore Warriors on the grassroots circuit.

Wofford received a verbal commitment from 2014 G Derrick Brooks Jr. of Bartlow H.S. (FL) on Saturday. Bartlow competed with the Q6 All-Stars program during the grassroots travel season.

Marquette strikes on the trail with another Top 100 ranked prospect, earning a verbal commitment from 2014 SG Ahmed Hill of Aquinas H.S. (GA) on Saturday, October 12th. Hill was a key piece to Southern Stampede’s squad during the grassroots travel season.

2014 C Trey Porter Potomac Senior H.S. (VA) verbally committed to George Mason on Saturday. Porter played with the Boo Williams grassroots program during the travel season.

Highly regarded 2014 C Mitch Solomon of Bixby H.S. (OK) ended his recruitment Saturday when he verbally committed to Oklahoma State. He competed with Playing with Purpose during the grassroots travel season.

North Dakota gets a verbal commitment from 2014 F/C Bryce Cashman of West Platte H.S. (MO) on Sunday. Cashman played with the Wedman Pumas grassroots program during the travel season.

2014 PG Jaylen Patterson of Montverde Academy (FL) committed verbally to LSU on Sunday, giving the Tigers another talented recruit to its class. Patterson competed for the Atlanta Celtics program during the grassroots travel season.

The annual fall league enters its 6th year and has become the premiere fall league in the state of Wisconsin for aspiring high school boys basketball players. With a primary focus on development and preparation for the upcoming high school season, the league looks to prepare each participant for the mental and physical experience of high school basketball while also focusing on providing maximum exposure and skill development in the process. The league will run from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturdays October 19th, October 26th, and November 2nd and will feature skill sessions and 2 full length games per week. In addition to weekly and cumulative individual stats, articles will be posted each week on NY2LASPORTS.COM and 414HOOPS.COM recapping top performers, stock boosters, etc. Each registered participant will also receive a customized reversible jersey and t-shirt and a complete player profile in the NY2LASPORTS.COM database that is view by college coaches and scouting services across the country. The annual fall league for aspiring middle school boys basketball players is open to current 7th and 8th grade prospects. With a primary focus on skill development the Junior Breakfast of Champions Fall League will offer skill sessions and 1 full length game each week. The league will run from 5 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. on Saturdays October 19th, 26th, and November 2nd and will feature maximum exposure opportunities while also providing each participant information on areas to improve, individual skill drills that assist in development, and the fun of full length games. Articles will be posted each week on our middle school affiliate at GENERATIONNEXTBASKETBALL.COM recapping top performers, stock boosters, etc. and weekly and cumulative individual stats will be kept week as well.
