While the high school season is still a few months away, there are a number of talented in-state prospects who look primed to have breakout years in the state of Wisconsin and 2011 6-7 forward John Kopriva of Marquette High School is one young prospect who looks ready to step up his game. After serving in more of a supportive role last year behind departed senior Garrett Maloney, Kopriva is ready to become a major focal point this season for the Hilltoppers and could be the breakout performer of the 2009-2010 high school season in the state.
An excellent two sport star (i.e. football), Kopriva has nice size, solid athleticism, runs the floor well, has nice instincts, can hit the mid range, finishes well around the basket, etc. As prospects go, Kopriva knows how to play and is arguably one of if not the top sleeper in the state when it comes to 2011 prospects. Skilled, athletic, and instinctive, Kopriva is a solid young talent on the rise who stands to really see his stock soar as he assumes one of the primary roles for Marquette this season.
Don't be surprised to see the young forward from the Greater Metro Conference become a major force this season as he looks the part and appears ready to play the part of a dominant big in the Badger State on the prep scene. He did not actively compete on the Grassroots travel circuit this past spring/summer.
