The commitments have started to drop as a host of talented and highly regarded prospects continued to come off the board with Auburn Head Coach Bruce Pearl being the big winner this past week landing 2015 SF Danjel Purifoy and 2015 PF Horace Spencer over the weekend.  We’ll look at those and more along with the dates for the upcoming Breakfast of Champions Fall Basketball League and the annual NY2LA Sports Futures Camp in today’s news and notes…

COMMITMENTS
2015 PF Noah Dickerson of Montverde Academy (FL) verbally committed to Florida last Sunday.  Dickerson played with the Georgia Stars during the grassroots travel season.

2015 G Prince Ali is headed to the West Coast as the Sagemont School (FL) talented verbally committed to the UCLA Bruins last Sunday.  Ali played with the Southern Stampede during the grassroots travel season.

2015 SF Dillon Brooks of Findlay Prep Academy (NV) committed to Oregon last week.  The twist is that Brooks committed and chose to reclassify to the 2014 class after playing with the CIA Bounce program this past spring and summer.

Brooks wasn’t the only one to re-classify as 2015 PF Emmitt Holt of Webster Schroeder (NY) chose to do the same and re-classify to the 2014 class early last week and he’s head to Indiana after committing to the Hoosiers.  Holt played with the Albany City Rocks program during the grassroots travel season.

2015 SG Kenny Williams of Bird HS (VA) verbally committed to VCU on Tuesday.  Williams played with the Boo Williams program during the grassroots travel season.

2015 G Jimmy Whitt of Columbia Hickman (MO) came off the board on Tuesday as the talented guard verbally committed to Head Coach Mike Anderson and the Arkansas Razorbacks.  Whitt was the Co-MVP of the 2013 NY2LA Sports Futures Camp and he played with the KC Run GMC program during the grassroots travel season.

2015 G Devin Cannady of Mishawaka Marion (IN) verbally committed to Princeton on Tuesday.  He played with the Spiece Indy Heat during the grassroots travel season.

Florida State struck on the trail as well this past week as 2015 SG Terrance Mann of Tilton (MA) verbally committed to the Seminoles.  Mann played with the BABC program this past summer.

Missouri jumped into the fray as well during the week as the Tigers secured a verbal commitment from 2015 F Kevin Puryear of Blue Springs South (MO).  Puryear played with the KC Run GMC program during the grassroots travel season.

One of the premiere bigs in the county came off the board as well and he stayed home while doing so as 2015 C Tyler Davis of Plano West HS (TX) verbally committed to the Texas A&M Aggies late last week.  He played with the Texas Titans during the grassroots travel season.

New Auburn Head Coach Bruce Pearl struck big on the trail over the weekend as he secured verbal commitments from 2015 SF Danjel Purifoy of Hargrave Military Academy (VA) and 2015 PF Horace Spencer of Findlay Prep (NV).  Purifoy played with the Atlanta Xpress and Spencer with the NJ Gym Rats during the grassroots travel season.

2014 NY2LA SPORTS BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS FALL BASKETBALL LEAGUE
The annual NY2LA Sports Breakfast of Champions Fall Basketball League is set to tip off again this October in Wisconsin.  The league is open to 2015-2018 prospects (i.e. HS Freshman-Seniors).  The annual high school platform the serves as a skill development, exposure, and high school season preparation league boasts an alumni of some of the top talented in recent history including, but not limited to, the likes of Jean-Pierre Tokoto (North Carolina), Luke Fischer (Marquette), Kevon Looney (UCLA), Nick Fuller (Nebraska), Zak Showalter (Wisconsin), Carrington Love (UW-Green Bay), Jordan Fouse (UW-Green Bay), Elgin Cook (Oregon), David Jesperson (Pepperdine), Charles Lee (Cleveland State), Duane Wilson Jr. (Marquette), Jake Thomas (Marquette), Deonte Burton (Marquette), etc.  The league will run on Sunday mornings October 12th, October 19th, and October 26th from 8 am – 1 pm at Milwaukee Lutheran High School (WI) and it will once again feature skill work along with full length game play.  CLICK HERE for more information on the 2014 NY2LA Sports Breakfast of Champions Fall Basketball League.

2014 NY2LA SPORTS FUTURES CAMP
The prestigious NY2LA Sports Futures Camp that has launched a number of the top prospects in the country into the national spotlight in recent history returns again this fall on October 25, 2014 at Milwaukee Lutheran High School in Wisconsin.  Past camp MVP’s have been Semi Ojeleye (Duke), Cliff Alexander (Kansas), Deonte Burton (Marquette), Kevon Looney (UCLA), Diamond Stone (TBD), Jimmy Whitt (Arkansas), and Joseph Toye (Vanderbilt).  The one day camp will offer up skill work along with full length game play once again and is open to 2016-2018 prospects to attend (i.e. Freshman-Juniors).  For more information on the 2014 Futures Camp CLICK HERE
