A number of talented sophomores have already put their names front and center at the top of the 2020 class but there are some others who have just started their ascent up the rankings and recruiting boards with regionally and nationally.  One prospect that fits the ladder description is Wendell Green Jr., a sophomore lead guard at La Lumiere (IN) by way of Detroit, Michigan.

A 5-10 plus 155 pound lead guard with tenacity, toughness, instincts, and skill, Green is a fierce competitor whose max effort approach combined with his skill set make for an intriguing lead guard in the 2020 class.  He handles the ball well, he has a quick and explosive first step, he can attack and finish through traffic, he can rip the nets with his mid-range pull up, and his has a perimeter stroke that can extend beyond the arc.  Defensively he’s relentless at times with his on and off the ball effort, instincts, and quickness making him disruptive and chaotic for opposing teams as he can jump the passing lanes, apply solid on the ball pressure, and cause prospects with his quickness, hands, and instincts tipping, deflecting and stealing the basketball.

Oakland and Detroit have already extended offers to Green who transferred to La Lumiere this summer after previously attending Detroit Country Day.  A strong Division prospect who should garner looks from every level, Green is as tough a competitor as there is and he’s one of those type of guys that you want on your side whenever you’re getting ready for a big game.

Green plays with the Michigan Playmakers during the grassroots travel season.
