Illinois is always chock full with talent and top level prospects when it comes to the hoops game. Coming out of Evanston is a player still with a lot of potential, but already has some mid and high major Division I looks after his abilities over the past year. 2021 Guard, Jaylin Gibson is a smooth athlete with outstanding basketball talent and he is out to show everyone why they should keep paying attention. He had an outstanding close to the summer with All-In and is getting ready to get back on the floor with his teammates at Evanston Township H.S.

Gibson plays with confidence and has a high motor which is just a start for the junior combo guard. Along with his effort and work ethic, at 6’4” 200-pounds he is also physically ready to play at the next level and his athleticism and frame allows him to play whichever way he chooses. With his speed and quickness he can blow by defenders, race up the floor in transition with ease, and can lockdown defensively. With his frame he can absorb contact when he attacks the paint and can play through contact.

Besides his physical gifts, Gibson has developed a nice arsenal of skills. The talented 2021 prospect has handle and is adept at getting by defenders with it. Once by defenders he is excellent when attacking the rim and has explosive athleticism where he can rise up in traffic for slam dunks. That athleticism and balance also shows with his transition game where he really excels. The other area of offense Gibson really improved is his jump shot. He gets good lift with his shot and has a nice release and follow through and he can knock it down pulling up off the dribble or take it off the catch on the perimeter. When Gibson gets hot from three-point range he can really roll a bunch of them together and then his ‘drive and attack’ game becomes even more difficult to defend.

With his physical abilities and his skill set, Gibson has the capability of taking over a game at any time. It’s no wonder he has a few offers in hand already from UW-Milwaukee, Drake, Chicago State, and Detroit-Mercy. He is also receiving good interest from Iowa, Illinois, Southern Illinois (SIU), Florida Atlantic (FAU), Belmont, Appalachian State, Toledo, and Miami (Ohio).
