Ryan Kalkbrenner of Trinity Catholic High School in St. Louis, Missouri and the Mac Irvin Fire has committed to Creighton University. In landing Kalkbrenner, head coach Greg McDermott and staff get one of the most dominant post defenders in the nation.

Kalkbrenner picked the Bluejay’s over his other two finalist; Purdue and Stanford. Over the last several months he has developed into a top 100 player nationally and one of the more sought after big men in the country. In addition to his final three, Kalkbrenner had a long list of offers that included Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, and Ohio State, Virginia Tech, among several others. He has truly burst into the spotlight this year, as all of these offers have come in since March of this year.

The center shined on the EYBL this year with the Mac Irvin Fire. He led the entire EYBL in block shots with 4.5 per game. At 7’0” and with his great length he is an imposing figure in the paint. Add in his agility and timing, and Kalkbrenner is a dominant shot blocker. As well he added 7.7 points per game on 56% shooting from the field and 8.9 rebounder per game.

With his size, mobility, good hands, and ability to finish around the basket, Kalkbrenner not only has the skills to be a dominant force on the defensive end, but offensively as well. Look for him to be a major factor from day one when he gets to Creighton next fall.
