One of the talented 2021 prospects continuing to grow in the Midwest is David Joplin of Brookfield Central H.S. in Wisconsin.  A starter last high school season, the 6’7”, 215 pound forward and his teammates are coming off an impressive season that culminated in a Division 1 state championship.  I caught up with Joplin to discuss the upcoming season and the current status of his recruitment…

NY2LA:  What are you looking forward to this upcoming season?
JOPLIN:  I’m looking forward to playing with our new group of players.  We have a lot of
players that did not have an opportunity to play last year.

NY2LA:  What are some of your goals for the new season?
JOPLIN:  To win another State Championship.  I want to become more of a leader with
my words, and my actions.  I want to be more aggressive scoring, and creating for my
teammates.

NY2LA:  What do you believe your biggest improvements have been over the summer
and going into the season?
JOPLIN:  I believe that I have become a better shooter, and a better ball handler so that
I can create for myself as well as create opportunities for my teammates.

Joplin holds offers from DePaul, UW-Milwaukee, and Green Bay.  He also received an offer from UNLV from the previous coaching staff.  Joplin indicated that a few others showing strong interest right now are Butler, Southern Illinois, and Chicago State.  Joplin’s versatility, length, rebounding, ball handling, and shooting creates matchup problems for opposing teams when he’s clicking.

Still developing, there’s a nice ceiling for him to grow into with continued hard work and he seems primed for a big high school season this upcoming year.  Best of luck this upcoming season David!
