As perimeter marksmen go on the hardwood there’s always room for those that can fill it up from beyond the arc and each state always has a couple that are at the front of the class.  Illinois is much of the same and one such talent is John Poulakidas of Neuqua Valley.

Equipped with a 6-6 plus length 175 pound frame, Poulakidas has the ability to spread the floor with range that extends well beyond the arc.  A left-handed perimeter standout, the 2021 standout excels in a catch and shoot capacity both in transition and half court sets but he’s also shown the ability to score off the bounce at the mid-range level and occasionally finish through contact.  He has instincts and feel to go along with his skill package and he’s quietly trending up in the state of Illinois and he has the potential to become a big story in the Land of Lincoln over the next 8-12 months.

Butler, Loyola (IL), Rutgers, Saint Louis, Southern Illinois, and Wake Forest already have offers on the table with a host of other mid and high major programs also showing interest in the talented wing.  Primed for a huge season after a big spring and summer with the Y & R (i.e Young and Reckless) travel program, expect Poulakidas to make a lot of noise as he’s one of the talented juniors in the state of Illinois to pay close attention to moving forward.
