Class of 2022 G/F Xavier Owens may be one of the best recruits in Texas that many people have never heard of.  He is focused on one thing and one thing only and that is to continue to get better and not get caught up in the hype.  The Klein Cain High School standout in Houston, is a true gym rat and loves the idea of getting in extra reps.  He believes that putting in the work will net positive results and this kind of dedication will only push argument of how high the potential ceiling will be once he finishes high school.

Offensively, he is as good as a scorer that you will find in Texas.  He has a natural smooth element about his game and always plays under control.  He can put it on the floor and get to the rim at ease against just about any defender that is put in front of him.   He does not shy away from contact likes to get physical when he must.  He sees the floor very well for his size and gives it up when he sees double teams in the half court.  His ball handling skills are above average, and he play multiple positions on the floor.  Although still improving his three-point shot, he has shown lately the confidence and consistency to knock down threes and keep defenses honest against him.  Another area where he has put in a tremendous amount of practice is at the free throw line.  He has the potential to be a legit three level scorer and continues to take steps in the right direction to get there.

Defensively he is a hard nose on the ball defender.  He takes pride in playing defense and does not shy away from guarding multiple positions on the floor.  His athleticism and length allow him to keep smaller guards in front of him as well as battle down low against post players.  He is an exceptional rebounder who has elite leaping ability and can start the break in transition.  He also anticipates well in the passing lanes and gets steals as well as deflection.  He loves to play up-tempo and apply pressure on opposing players.  He does not take plays off and is the ultimate leader on the floor for his team.  His work that constantly puts in behind the scenes has paid off as more schools in the region have began to target him as priority for their 2022 recruitment class.

This past summer he was able to get attention from many of the schools in the region as well as land a scholarship offer from Western Kentucky University.  We firmly are sure that this if just the tip of the iceberg in terms of schools that will extend scholarships as his list is guaranteed to grow over the next 12 months.
