Another hungry group of young middle school players took to the court for week 2 of the JR BOC and names like Keisean Cole stood front and center when the final whistle blew. We close our look back at the second week of the JR BOC with a look at some of the top performances in the Future Stars Division this past weekend…
MARQUETTE
KEISEAN COLE – 2017 – F
Stat Line – 17 points (7-12 FG), 10 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists, 2 blocks, 3 turnovers
Captured Conference Player of the Week honors with a strong floor performance. He was active on both ends, finished around the basket, knocked down jumpers, etc. A solid overall performance.
ISAIAH MCCLOUD – 2018 – PG
Stat Line – 8 points (3-8 FG), 2 assists, 2 turnovers
Was a lot more active during the second week that the prior week and showed an ability to score off the bounce, a nice mid-range stroke, and solid vision as well. Would like to see him be more aggressive and more active on both ends over the next couple weeks.
AKEIR MCKINNEY – 2018 – PG
Stat Line – 3 points (1-6 FG), 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 block, 2 turnovers
Made some solid contributions on the glass and was very active defensively. Would like to see him continue to be more aggressive on both ends moving forward.
ARIZONA
CHRISTIAN GERNER – 2016 – PG
Stat Line – 5 points (2-4 FG), 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 4 turnovers
Was active on the glass and showed solid range with his jumper as well. Needs to be more aggressive on both ends and work on reducing his turnovers over the next couple of weeks.
ANDREW LEWIS – 2017 – G/F
Stat Line – 18 points (6-14 FG), 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 1 steal, 4 turnovers
Delivered a really solid performance where he was aggressive offensively, attacked the glass, was active on both ends etc. Needs to be more efficient with his shooting and reduce his turnovers moving forward.
NICK LOKE – 2016 – G
Stat Line – 15 points (6-13 FG), 14 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists, 1 block, 2 turnovers
Took his aggressiveness and activity up a few notches this past weekend and the results were obvious as he served as a dominant rebounding force, he scored with consistency, and he was active on the defensive end as well. A solid effort to build on moving forward.
JAYLIN SCOTT – 2018 – PG
Stat Line – 10 points (3-7 FG), 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, 3 turnovers
Was solid in terms of his floor production but would like to see him continue to be more aggressive and active on both ends in the coming weeks while also working on limiting his turnovers. A solid start to build on this past weekend.
TEXAS
TYRESE HALIBURTON – 2018 – PG
Stat Line – 9 points (3-6 FG), 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 1 steal, 4 turnovers
Made some solid contributions offensively and on the glass and found ways to contribute across the board as well. Would like to see him be more aggressive on both ends but also reduce his turnovers moving forward.
DAMON JACKSON – 2017 – PG
Stat Line – 10 points (4-11 FG), 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 1 block, 7 turnovers
Struggled with turnovers and finishing consistently but gave a much better effort as he was more aggressive and more active on both ends. Needs to continue to be more active but also be more efficient finishing and reduce his turnovers over the next couple of weeks.
ANGELO MARTUCCI – 2018 – G/F
Stat Line – 13 points (6-9 FG), 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 turnovers
Impressed with his ability to finish and showed solid range that extends beyond the arc as well. Was active on the glass and made some nice things happen defensively. Needs to continue to build on this in the coming weeks by staying aggressive but reducing his turnovers.
JEROME STOVALL – 2017 – SG
Stat Line – 7 points (3-11 FG), 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, 4 turnovers
Gave a nice contribution across the board and was active on the glass. Needs to continue to work on finishing with consistency and reducing turnovers moving forward.
WISCONSIN
SAM CHRISTIANSEN – 2016 – G
Stat Line – 8 points (3-6 FG), 3 steals, 1 assist, 1 rebound, 1 turnover
Showed an ability to score the basketball and nice range along with solid activity on the defensive end. Would like to see him be more aggressive and active on both ends moving forward.
REESE DRAKE – 2017 – G
Stat Line – 6 points (3-10 FG), 3 steals, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 0 turnovers
Was active defensively and made some decent things happen at times as well. Needs to be more active and aggressive over the next couple of weeks.
TYLER HERRO – 2017 – G/F
Stat Line – 11 points (4-10 FG), 2 rebounds, 1 steal, 0 turnovers
A much better effort in terms of his aggressiveness offensively and he showed solid range as well. Would like to see him build on this and continued to be more aggressive and more active on both ends moving forward.
QUINCY MINOR JR. – 2018 – PG
Stat Line – 8 points (3-6 FG), 6 steals, 2 assist, 1 rebound, 2 turnovers
Turned in a strong defensive performance as he was disruptive and made a number of plays that resulted in transition opportunities for his team. Would like to see him build on this and continue to be more active and aggressive on both ends moving forward.
