An exciting month of action wrapped this past weekend at the annual NY2LA Sports Breakfast of Champions (“BOC”) Fall League and Marquette commit 2013 SF Deonte Burton helped power his team to the league championship with a stellar two game performance. We begin our recap of the final week with a look at some of the top performers in the Western Conference from this past weekend…
WESTERN CONFERENCE
LEAGUE/CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – DEONTE BURTON – 2013 – SF – MILWAUKEE VINCENT
Stat Line Game 1 – 25 points (9-16 FG), 6 assists, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 turnover
Stat Line Game 2 – 24 points (9-15 FG), 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal, 2 turnovers
Delivered a strong and dominant performance in both games and helped lead his team to victory and capture the league championship in the process. Was active on both ends, knocked down 8 of 14 from long range on the day, mixed in some post moves, and finished in transition. A solid overall performance in both games.
2. DUANE WILSON JR. – 2013 – PG – DOMINICAN
Stat Line Game 1 – 17 points (6-11 FG), 9 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 block, 6 turnovers
Stat Line Game 2 – 19 points (8-17 FG), 8 assists, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, 5 turnovers
Continued to deliver high quality floor games across the board and made a number of solid passes both in transition and half court sets while also scoring off the bounce, knocking down perimeter shots (i.e. 4-10 from long range) and elevating his activity on the defensive end and the glass as well. Still struggled with some unforced turnovers but overall delivered a couple high quality performances once again.
3. JARVIS GARRETT – 2013 – PG – WEST ALLIS CENTRAL
Stat Line Game 1 – 19 points (6-7 FG), 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 0 turnovers
Stat Line Game 2 – 17 points (7-18 FG), 5 assists, 1 rebound, 4 turnover
Delivered his best efforts of the fall with a couple quality efforts. In the opening game he was exceptional in terms of efficiency and performance and knocked down 4 of 4 from long range as well. In the second game he worked off the dribble and scored off the bounce and in transition while also kicking out some assists as well. A solid overall performance that showed leadership and quickness in the process.
4. DAMONTRAE JEFFERSON – 2014 – PG – MILWAUKEE HAMILTON
Stat Line Game 1 – 20 points (9-16 FG), 5 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 turnovers
Stat Line Game 2 – 18 points (8-18 FG), 9 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 6 turnover
Struggled with some turnovers but was very good in terms of his activity, his playmaking, and his overall impact on the offensive end of the floor in both games. Was active defensively, scored off the bounce, knocked down some jumpers and overall delivered a couple of solid efforts on the weekend.
5. (TIE) PHILLIP NOLAN – 2012 – PF – MILWAUKEE RIVERSIDE
Stat Line Game 1 – 14 points (5-10 FG), 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, 1 steal, 1 turnover
Stat Line Game 2 – 19 points (9-12 FG), 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, 3 turnovers
Was more active and productive this past weekend and really stepped it up in the second game as he was more assertive in the paint and significantly more active around the basket on both ends. A dominant post talent when he wants to stay on the blocks, that was evident in the second game as he attacked the rim virtually every time he touched the ball in a solid performance.
5. (TIE) KONOR KULAS – 2012 – F – KIMBERLY
Stat Line Game 1 – 15 points (6-9 FG), 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 turnover
Stat Line Game 2 – 15 points (5-9 FG), 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 block, 1 turnover
Delivered a high quality efficient and thoroughly productive performance in both games. Finished with a high level of efficiency, took good shots, attacked the glass, was active defensively, and made solid decisions on both ends this past weekend. Excellent performance to wrap up his efforts this fall.
