An exciting final week of action at the inaugural Junior Breakfast of Champions (“JR BOC”) fall league saw a number of hotly contested matchups and some excellent individual performances and 2016 G/F Jack Popp stood front and center once again with two scintillating performances to cap a huge fall campaign for the standout wing.  We begin our recap of week 4 of the JR BOC with a look at the top performances in the Phenom Division…

PHENOM DIVISION TOP PERFORMANCES

LEAGUE/CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JACK POPP – 2016 – G/F
Stat Line Game 1 – 19 points (8-15 FG), 16 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 1 steal, 2 turnovers
Stat Line Game 2 – 25 points (12-16 FG), 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 0 turnovers

Wrapped a stellar month of action with two more excellent performances.  He was active on the glass, efficient from the field, knocked down mid-range jumpers, scored in transition, drilled a couple trey balls, etc.  Was virtually unstoppable at times both in terms of his production as well as his effort and activity once again.

2.    Jeremiah Words – 2016 – F
Stat Line Game 1 – 16 points (8-11 FG), 6 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 assist, 1 block
Stat Line Game 2 – 14 points (7-15 FG), 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 assists, 4 turnovers

A classic glue guy who does all the little things to be successful, Words was that and more this past weekend as he helped lead his team to the league championship with back to back solid performances.  He finished with efficiency, attacked the glass, was active defensively, and made plays when it mattered the most in both games.  A solid overall performance.

3.    Danya Kingsby – 2016 - PG
Stat Line Game 1 – 15 points (5-19 FG), 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 2 turnovers
Stat Line Game 2 – 14 points (6-11 FG), 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 0 turnovers

Struggled a bit from the field in the opening game but overall he turned in some solid floor performances where he attacked well off the bounce, knocked down some jumpers and showed nice range, made some solid passes, etc.  Excelled in transition and scoring off the bounce and overall displayed solid instincts and nice court awareness along with an advanced skill package this past weekend.

4.    Josh Mueller – 2016 – F/C
Stat Line Game 1 – 10 points (5-6 FG), 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, 1 turnover
Stat Line Game 2 – 8 points (4-9 FG), 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, 1 turnover

Rebounded from a couple of subpar efforts to deliver a strong and solid overall performance in the final week.  He finished around the basket, showed solid footwork, was active on the glass on both ends, and made some solid passes as well.  A quality overall performance to wrap up his JR BOC campaign.

5. (Tie)    Ezekiel Gueths – 2016 – F/C
Stat Line Game 1 – 4 points (2-5 FG), 13 rebounds, 1 block, 2 turnovers
Stat Line Game 2 – 24 points (10-17 FG), 19 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 turnovers

Wasn’t active the first game but was still dominant on the glass and he turned in his best performance of the month in his final game with a dominant performance both offensively and on the glass.  Showed nice instincts, solid toughness, improved activity, etc.  A solid performance to wrap his JR BOC campaign.

5. (Tie) Terrence Lewis – 2017 – SF
Stat Line Game 1 – 16 points (7-14 FG), 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 4 turnovers
Stat Line Game 2 – 15 points (6-16 FG), 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 0 turnovers

Delivered a stellar opening week effort and after a couple of subpar performances the past couple weeks Lewis delivered back to back solid performances this past weekend.  He made some huge baskets in key spots, showed a versatile inside-outside offensive package, displayed nice range from beyond the arc, etc.  A strong closing performance to his JR BOC campaign this fall.
