The stars came out on Saturday night as hot prospects like Minnesota sophomore wing Rashad Vaughn delivered big time performances. Here’s a look at some of the names who shined bright last night across the country…
2014 G/F Rashad Vaughn exploded for 34 points to lead Robbinsdale Cooper (MN) to a 68-63 victory over Patrick Henry (MN). Vaughn played with the Net Gain Sports program last summer.
2014 G Isaiah Whitehead dropped 26 points as Lincoln (NY) defeated Patterson (MD) 71-66 despite a 36 point effort from 2013 G Aquille Carr at the Under Armour I-95 High School Challenge on Saturday. Whitehead played with the Juice All-Stars last summer while Carr hit the hardwood with Baltimore’s Finest on the travel circuit.
2013 SF Jabari Parker scored 30 points and Marquette bound 2012 F Steve Taylor added 23 as Simeon (IL) rolled to an 87-57 victory over Memphis Brighton (TN) last night. Both played with the Mac Irvin Fire during the grassroots travel season.
2012 F Isaiah Austin scored 20 points collected 12 rebounds and blocked 9 shots to lead Grace Prep (TX) to a 65-62 victory over Taft (OH) at the City of Palms Classic on Saturday. Austin played with the Texas PRO program last summer.
Michigan State bound 2012 SG Gary Harris poured in 21 as Hamilton SE (IN) rolled to a 74-59 victory on Saturday. Harris played with the D3 Heat during the grassroots travel season.
Temple bound 2012 F Daniel Dingle scored 24 points and added 10 rebounds as St. Raymond (NY) outlasted Trinity (KY) 73-70 at the City of Palms Classic on Saturday. Dingel played with the Long Island Lightning during the grassroots travel season.
2013 SG Keith Frazier finished with 11 points as Kimball (TX) outlasted Lincoln (TX) 45-40 on Saturday night.
2013 SG Riley Dearring scored 18 to push Minnetonka (MN) past Tutino-Grace (MN) 72-66 on Saturday. Dearring played with the Net Gain Sports program during the grassroots travel season.
2012 F Brandon Ashley dropped 17 as Findlay Prep (NV) rolled to an 86-43 victory on Saturday. Ashley played with the Oakland Soldiers last summer.
2012 SF Xavier Johnson scored 18 as Mater Dei (CA) won 76-70 at the City of Palms Classic. Johnson played with the Dreamvision program last summer.
2013 PG Jaren Sina scored 20 points and kicked out 10 assists as Gill St. Bernards (NJ) defeated Bishop Verot (FL) 71-62 at the City of Palms Classic on Saturday. Sina played with the Hoop Heaven program last summer.
Maryland bound 2012 big man Shaquille Cleare scored 17 points to push The Village School (TX) to a 72-61 victory over Houston Kinkaid and Cleared also dropped 22 points as The Village School (TX) dropped Houston Westbury (TX) 65-56 in tournament action on Saturday. He played with the Houston Defenders last summer.
2012 PF Ricardo Gathers scored 19 points and collected 15 rebounds as Riverside (LA) defeated Miller Grove (GA) despite 30 points and 6 rebounds from 2012 F/C Tony Parker. Gathers played with a couple different programs as did Parker during the grassroots travel season.
2012 G Zak Showalter scored 30 points and 2013 F/C Luke Fischer added 26 as Germantown (WI) rolled to a 99-62 victory over Menomonee Falls (WI) despite 26 points from North Carolina abound 2012 SF Jean-Pierre Tokoto. Showalter and Fischer played with the Wisconsin Swing while Tokoto played with the Wisconsin Playground Warriors last summer.
2013 F Julius Randle scored 16 points and collected 6 rebounds to lead Prestonwood Christian (TX) to a 70-63 victory over Constitution (PA) at the City of Palms Classic on Saturday. Randle played with the Texas Titans program during the grassroots travel season.
2014 G James Blackmon exploded for 40 points to lead Bishop Luers (IN) to an 89-43 victory over T.C. Howe (IN) on Saturday. Blackmon played with the Spiece Indy Heat last summer.
2013 G/F Collin Hartman scored 14 points to help Cathedral (IN) to a 59-42 victory over Central Catholic (IN) on Saturday. Hartman played with the Eric Gordon All-Stars last summer.
2012 SF Clyde Santee poured in 26 points as Yates (TX) rolled to an 85-41 victory over Houston Saint Johns (TX) on Saturday. Santee played with the Houston Defenders last summer.
2012 PF Perry Ellis scored 26 points and collected 13 rebounds as Wichita Heights (KS) rolled to a 54-48 victory on Saturday. Ellis played with the Kansas Pray and Play program last summer.
