(1) ANDREW WIGGINS – 6-7 – SF – HUNTINGTON PREP (WV) (VIEW PROFILE)
Long athletic wing with excellent instincts, above average skills, the ability to explode and score in transition and half court sets off the bounce, and an improving perimeter stroke. Excellent pedigree combines with solid physical tools to form a high major impact talent on the rise.
(2) JAHLIL OKAFOR – 6-9 – C – WHITNEY YOUNG (IL) (VIEW PROFILE)
The battle for the #1 spot in the 2014 class will also involve this big strong interior prospect who’s drawn comparisons to current Ohio State standout Jared Sullinger. Excellent big strong massive frame that combines with solid instincts and an ability dominate the paint and post double double performances every time he takes the court. Excellent upside and potential.
(3) DAKARI JOHNSON – 6-10 – C – MONTVERDE ACADEMY (FL) (VIEW PROFILE)
Another of the massive interior prospects in the class, Johnson is a big strong and long interior talent with solid instincts and a nice feel around the basket. Has decent footwork, an ability to score on the blocks, an ability to step away and knock down the mid-range jumper, etc. As with most bigs Johnson is still developing and he has some excellent upside and potential in the coming years.
(4) CLIFF ALEXANDER – 6-9 – F/C – CHICAGO CURIE (IL) (VIEW PROFILE)
One of the most underrated prospects in this class nationally at the current time, Alexander has an excellent long and powerful frame and adds solid athleticism and explosion to it as well to form a big time interior prospect. Attacks the rim ferociously with dunks at times, has solid timing for blocking shots, attacks the glass, etc. Still evolving in terms of his post moves and footwork but really looks the part of a high major impact post player at the next level.
(5) EMMANUEL MUDIAY – 6-4 – G – GRACE PREP (TX) (VIEW PROFILE)
The leader of a blue chip 2014 class in the Lone Star state, Mudiay continues to draw rave reviews with his feel and instincts. Initially a scoring guard, Mudiay has involved into a true combo and continues to make his way toward being exclusively a lead guard which is nasty when you consider his vision, height, playmaking, and ability to score the rock and attack the rim. Crazy upside and potential right now for this young man who already has the likes of Kansas, Texas, Baylor, Missouri, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, etc. knocking on his door.
OTHER NOTABLES
(7) TYUS JONES – 6-1 – PG – APPLE VALLEY (MN) (VIEW PROFILE)
An excellent skilled lead guard with the ability to score the basketball in bunches. Has handles, a solid feel, nice vision, range beyond the arc, etc. Long regarded as one of the premiere prospects in the country for the 2014 class, Jones is an excellent blend of instincts and skill and regarded by many as the premiere pure lead guard in the 2014 class nationally.
(9) RASHAD VAUGHN – 6-5 – G/F – ROBBINSDALE COOPER (MN) (VIEW PROFILE)
Joins Jones as part of a blue chip 1-2 punch in the state of Minnesota, Vaughn is an electric wing who can score inside and out and has the ability to finish in transition as well. Equipped with a nice long frame, solid athleticism, excellent instincts, and a skill package that includes decent handles, range beyond the arc, and an ability to score off the bounce, Vaughn could very well become the hottest story in the 2014 class over the next year as he has excellent upside and high major impact potential with continued hard work and development.
(13) KEVON LOONEY – 6-7 – SF – MILWAUKEE HAMILTON (WI) (VIEW PROFILE)
The long lean wing talent from the state of Wisconsin continues to deliver solid performances and after last July’s electric efforts during the “live” period Looney continues to see his recruiting stock soar. A long wiry talent with instincts, footwork, and skill, Looney is at his best with the ball in his hands facing the basket as he can attack off the bounce, knock down the mid-range pull up, etc. Has a knack for putting the ball in the basket in a variety of ways and as he continues to evolve physically in the coming years you can expect to see a laundry list of high major programs knocking on his door.
(21) TRAYVON REED - 6-10 - SHILOH H.S. (GA) (VIEW PROFILE)
A long lean interior talent who drips with upside and potential. Equipped with decent instincts and an ability to finish around the basket, Reed looks like a 7 footer on the rise and with continued hard work and development he could become a huge story in the 2014 class nationally. Already being courted by the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, etc.
(38) DOMINIQUE COLLIER – 6-2 – PG – DENVER EAST H.S. (CO) (VIEW PROFILE)
One of the premiere floor generals in the 2014 class nationally, Collier has excellent handles, solid instincts, and the ability to take over the game through dribble drive penetration and playmaking. His perimeter stroke continues to evolve as does his physical package. An excellent all around lead guard who continues to develop and improve with each passing year.
