Consistency, efficiency, and production are the keys to delivering on the hardwood and as 2014 prospects go there are a number of them that have elevated their status after delivering quality performances this spring on the travel circuit. One such talent who has been exceptional the past couple of months is sharpshooting perimeter talent Riley Lachance of Brookfield Central High School in Wisconsin.
Regarded for the past couple of years as a solid talent on the rise in the Badger state, Lachance delivered some nice efforts during the high school season but he built on those with some exceptional and consistent efforts on the spring circuit while helping lead his team to a number of tournament championships. Lachance can slide between either guard spot but the Wisconsin native excels at shooting the basketball and he can do so from anywhere on the floor. The young marksman stands at 6-2 and weighs in around 160 and hits the hardwood with excellent skill and nice instincts that he utilizes to the fullest. Lachance rains jumpers from beyond the arc, wets the nets with mid-range pull-up jumpers, and has shown an improved ability to score off the bounce attacking the rim the past couple of months. Mix in decent handles, solid vision, and an ability to hit big shots when it matters and the junior to be looks the part of a solid Division 1 talent to pay attention to over the next 12-18 months.
Few, if any, have been as efficient and consistent in terms of their production on the travel circuit as Lachance delivered MVP performances at the NY2LA Sports Spring Extravaganza and the NY2LA Sports Invitational while also leading his team to 16U championships at both as well as a 16U championship at the Chicago Classic at the end of May. Schools have begun to take notice as well as Lachance is collecting some early interest from the likes of Creighton, Wisconsin, Marquette, Iowa, Northern Iowa, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Green Bay, UC-Riverside, Bradley, Indiana State, Dayton, Army, Drake, etc. amongst others. With continued performances like this past spring the sharpshooting talent should continue to see that list grow as he’s firmly established himself as a 2014 prospect to know and pay close attention to moving forward.
He plays with the RAS (formerly Ray Allen Select) program during the grassroots travel season.
