The strip of Vegas was secondary on Wednesday night as teams from across the country took center stage in the desert as the final installment of the July “live” evaluation period hit the hardwood in Nevada.  Reid Travis delivered one of the biggest performances of the night as the talented forward dropped an impressive double double performance on opening night.  We look at that and more as we recap day 1 from the Adidas Super 64 in Las Vegas…

TOP PERFORMERS
Kendal Harris – 2013 – PG – Urban DFW Elite
6-4/190 –Berkner H.S. – Dallas, TX

A tough physical guard with athleticism and explosion, Harris scored off the bounce, showed solid dribble penetration skills, finished in transition, and locked up on the defensive end in an impressive 18 point effort to help push Urban DFW Elite past the Florida Elite.

Zak Irvin – 2013 – G/F –Eric Gordon All-Stars
6-7/190 – Hamilton SE – Indianapolis, IN

Was dominant from start to finish on Wednesday as he dropped 19 points in a victory over the Atlanta Celtics and drilled 5 trey balls in the process.  A strong opening night effort for Irvin who continued to impress with his range and perimeter stroke on Wednesday night.

Jordan Mickey – 2013 – F – Urban DFW Elite
6-8/210 – Grace Prep – Dallas, TX

Mickey was stellar on opening night but this time is all about his defense as he had 6 highlight blocks in the first half and smothered super-athletic wing Chris Walker in the 2nd half to keep him scoreless and help his squad to the victory.  Really brought a nice effort to the table but most importantly he was willing to lock up and serve as a dominant force defensively in Las Vegas.

Reid Travis  - 2014 – F - Minnesota Pump n Run
6-7/225 – De La Salle H.S. – Minneapolis, MN

Travis delivered a big time performance to the tune of 29 points and 10 rebounds on a variety of slashes, jumpers, and baskets in the paint.  A strong physical wing that can dominate the game on both ends, Travis was stellar on opening night in Vegas.

Dropped 15 points in the win on Wednesday night and he was in the right place at the right time throughout the evening.  Attacks the glass well, collects rebounds, finishes around the rim, and found ways to contribute across the board with intangibles, effort, and production on both ends.
