Day 2 at the AAU Super Showcase saw some solid performances from a host of top prospects but when the national television lights turned on it was lead guard Joel Berry who shined the brightest in Florida. We look at that and more as we recap day 2 of the 2012 AAU Super Showcase…

Top Performers
Joel Berry - 2014 - PG - E1T1
6-1 - Lake Highland Prep HS - Apopka, FL

Berry led E1T1 in scoring for both of their games on Thursday, including a big game against the Texas Titans where he dropped 22 points on a variety of jumpers and dribble drive baskets.

Rene Castro - 2013 - G - BABC
6-2 - Worcester Academy HS - Milton, MA

Castro had 16 points for BABC in their win over the New York Gauchos. Castro is a smart player and has good feel for the game. He’ll knock down open shots and facilitate the ball as well.

Omar Prewitt - 2013 - F - The Ville
6-5 - Montgomery HS - Sterling, KY

Prewitt is a physical forward who causes some problems for the defense, because he has some ability to attack from the perimeter. Prewitt can shoot the ball from the outside as well, pouring in 19 points Thursday afternoon.

Delano Spencer - 2013 - G - Georgia Stars
6-3 - Greater Atlanta Christian HS - Norcross, GA

Spencer is a strong guard, capable of knocking down shots from distance. He had 17 points against Albany City Rocks on Thursday.

Duane Wilson Jr. – 2013 – PG – Playground Elite
6-3 – Dominican H.S. – Milwaukee, WI

Took over the game against the CP3 All-Stars in the second half as he drilled trey balls, attacked off the bounce, and found ways to both create and put the ball in the basket.  Delivered his best performance of the week so far in helping his team to a last second victory on Thursday night.

Stock Boosters
Antwoine Anderson - 2013 - G - Albany City Rocks
6-2 - Bishop Kearney HS - New York, NY

Anderson is a very good ball handler and has a knack for breaking down his opponent off the dribble. Anderson doesn’t waste many dribbles when he attacks the rim and can also pull up off the dribble.

Cornelius Elder - 2013 - G - Team Nashville
5-11 - Ensworth HS - Nashville, TN

Although more known for scoring touchdowns at the high school level, Elder knows how to score baskets as well. One of the nation’s top football recruits, Elder certainly can play basketball at a high level as well. Elder is good with the ball in his hands and has an array of moves to get to the basket. Elder shot the ball very well against All-Ohio Red too.

Star Watch
Julius Randle - 2013 - F - Texas Titans
6-9 - 2013 - Prestonwood Christian Academy - Dallas, TX

Randle was solid for the Texas Titans on Thursday, using his physical tools to rise above and outmuscle opponents throughout most of the day. Randle struggled from the free throw line a bit on Thursday, but was nearly unstoppable attacking the rim at times.

Marc Loving - 2013 - F - All-Ohio Red
6-8 - St. John’s HS - Toledo, OH

Loving scored 19 points against Team Nashville, knocking down three’s and finishing some tough shots in the paint. Loving and All-Ohio Red are now 4-0 in Orlando.

Jalen Lindsey - 2014 - F - Georgia Stars
6-7 - Christ Presbyterian Academy HS - Franklin, TN

Lindsey had it working from three-point range for the Georgia Stars against Albany City Rocks on Thursday. Lindsey knocked down three’s with ease as the Stars rolled to a nice win.

Trayvon Reed - 2014 - F/C - Atlanta Xpress
6-10 - Shiloh H.S. - Snellville, GA

The long wiry big man was active and aggressive in a victory over Team Takeover on Thursday as he scored 12 points and collected 10 rebounds.  He powered home a couple nice dunks, dropped in some solid post moves, and was more assertive on both ends of the court.
