FUTURE LOOKING BRIGHT

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.  Had a chance to look at some young players this past weekend and the future looks bright again.  We dropped our 2014 rankings on PHENOMNATIONHOOPS.COM last week and you can look for the 2015 rankings later this week.  I wanted to drop them last week but with all the holiday festivities going on I figured that waiting until this week would be as good as anything.  Here's a few things I took note of from this past weekend as the middle school level...

Had a chance to catch some of the top 8th graders in Illinois go to work and you can expect to hear names like Jahlil Okafor, Paul White, and Malik Yarbrough a lot in the coming years.  Keep track of Tye Wilburn, Tyler Wideman, and Larry Crisler in Indiana as they all look to have bright futures as well.

As talked about today at 414HOOPS.COM, the Playground Elite 6th and 7th grade teams captured tournament championships this past weekend.  Remember the names Bobby Hambright and Darion King as they have a chance to be very very good before its all said and done.  Also saw the Ray Allen Select 8th graders as well and their frontcourt of Chad Kanugh and Ricky Landers could be very nice this spring/summer.  Kanugh is a beast and Landers continues to take steps forward and looks the part of a 7 footer before its all said and done.

Needless to say there is a lot of young talent on the rise across the country and the future is looking awfully bright on the hardwood in the Midwest...
