FEBRUARY NEWS AND NOTES

February 16, 2010
Starting to head down the final stretch of the high school season and while the high school season gears up for the state tournament season, the grassroots travel season is beginning to surface from coast to coast. A loaded 2011 class takes center stage in the coming months and the Midwest is absolutely loaded with talent from top to bottom.
The next ACT Test date is April 10, 2010 and the deadline for registration is March 5, 2010. I would recommend to all juniors that if you are available to sign up and hopefully get that piece of the puzzle taken care of. Worst case scenario you know where you stand and then you give yourself more opportunities to get additional work in and continue to improve your score, best case scenario you're able to get it done the first time out of the box. The ACT can be a stressful situation if you let it creep up on you or wait until the last minute, I definitely recommend taking it asap for any juniors. The 2010 Swish & Dish Spring Warm-Up continues to load up with talented teams. Expect no less than 10 states to be represented when it's all said and done and many of the biggest names in the country will be in Milwaukee April 2-4, 2010. The courts are going to drip with excellent prospects and teams and we're really looking forward to this year's event on a number of levels. For more information on this year's event CLICK HERE
Freshman, sophomores, and juniors I cannot stress how important it is for you to be on top of your core classes right now. If you can get out ahead of those with solid grades early it will reduce your stress level later on in high school and put you on the right track. Easily one of the most rewarding things I'm witnessing right now is watching so many kids who've gone through our events and camps at NY2LASPORTS.COM over the years really doing major damage at the high school level. Also, when you add to the fact that six of this year's McDonald's All-Americans selected last week (McCallum, Kendrick, Appling, Richmond, Barnes, Thomas) are alumni of NY2LASPORTS.COM events, needless to say I am personally very pleased to have been blessed to have each of them be a part of the NY2LASPORTS.COM family one one form or another. The future is equally bright as a number of our Generation Next All-Star Camp alumni are blistering the high school circuit right now. Some of the biggest talent on the rise both regionally and nationally are alumni of the camp (i.e. 2012 Jean-Pierre Tokoto, 2012 Marcus Paige, 2012 Arroyo Edwards, 2013 Jabari Parker, 2013 Duane Wilson Jr., 2013 Deonte Burton, 2013 Riley Dearring, 2014 Tyus Jones, etc.). Really rewarding to watch these young men doing their thing on the court and at last glance all have been doing an solid job in the classroom as well which is most important. If you don't know the 2010 NY2LASPORTS.COM Generation Next All-Star Camp returns on June 18-20, 2010 and when I say it stands to be LOADED that may very well be an understatement. It will be the deal on a number of levels. For more information on this year's camp CLICK HERE
