The 2010 Boost Mobile Elite 24 basketball gala tipped off on Friday in Venice Beach (CA) with a skills competition and dunk contest that featured a number of top prospects from across the country.  Here’s a rundown of few things we picked up on the trail yesterday…

2011 G Duece Bello of Westchester Country Day Academy (NC) took home the slam dunk title on Friday.  Heavily favored prior to the event, Bello used his summer and high school teammate 2011 F Quincy Miller as a prop and leaped over him as he sat in a chair to throw home a thunderous dunk.

2011 SG Brad Beal of Chaminade (MO) captured the skills title on Friday.  The championship featured a matchup between 2011 PG Quinn Cook of Oak Hill Academy (WV).  The skills consisted of weaving through cones for three quarters of the court, a chest pass through a hoop cross court, a three point shot, and then a full length of the court layup.  Cook posted a solid effort in the finals but missed his first three point attempt and those precious seconds proved to be too much for the silky smooth Beal who took home the title.

The Elite 24 game will tip off later today adjacent to the Pacific Ocean in Venice Beach (CA) and it will be nationally televised by ESPN.
