An exciting weekend in Venice Beach (CA) came to a conclusion with the 2010 Boost Mobile Elite 24 game on Saturday.  With the Pacific Ocean serving as a perfect backdrop and a packed audience in attendance, it was Austin Rivers, James McAdoo, Myck Kabongo, and Kyle Wiltjer who showed out and captured Co-MVP honors as the Raymond Lewis squad defeated the Marques Johnson one 131-128.  Here’s a rundown of some things we picked up on Saturday…

2011 G Myck Kabongo of Findlay Prep (NV) scored 13 points and kicked out 10 assists while 2011 PF Kyle Wiltjer of Jesuit (OR) added 20 points and grabbed 4 rebounds to capture Co-MVP honors and pace the winning team.  Wiltjer doubled as a huge story on Saturday with his verbal commitment to Kentucky as well, another huge grab for the Wildcats who’ve already secured the #1 class in the country without question.

2011 G Austin Rivers of Winter Park (FL) scored 15 points grabbed 5 rebounds and kicked out 4 assists while 2011 F James McAdoo of Norfolk Christian (VA) added 10 points and 11 rebounds to grab Co-MVP honors along with Rivers in the losing effort for the Marques Johnson squad.  Rivers was spectacular and really on pace to take over the game before landing hard on his wrist and having to leave the game for a significant period of time in the second half.  Rivers is electric at times and he was the best player on the court without question prior to taking the hard fall.

2011 G Kentavious Caldwell of Greenville H.S. (GA) came up big for the winners as the Georgia commit dropped a 20 piece on 10 of 13 shooting from the field.

Arizona commit 2011 G Nick Johnson of Findlay Prep (NV) showed off his athleticism and versatility as well with a 16 point 3 assists performance.  Johnson was a great catch for the Wildcats and has the ability to fill a number of spots with his skill, instincts, and versatility for Head Coach Sean Miller.

2012 G/F Shabazz Muhammad of Bishop Gorman (NV) was his usual efficient self in limited minutes.  Muhammad scored 8 points on 4 of 6 shooting.

2011 SG Jabari Brown of Oakland H.S. (CA) was his typical explosive self at times.  The scoring guard dropped 16 in a losing effort on 7 of 10 shooting from the field.

2011 G/F Duece Bello of Westchester Country Day H.S. (NC) wrapped up an explosive weekend with 12 points 4 rebounds and 3 assists.  Bellow captivated crowds with his leaping ability and highlight dunks throughout the weekend including capturing the Slam Dunk Title on Friday.

2011 PG Quinn Cook of Oak Hill Academy (WV) suffered a late injury on Saturday.  It didn’t look too severe but we are told that an MRI has been scheduled for Monday.  Let’s hope everything is negative with that.
